HI... somebody told me that there was a program in which you could input your height and then you could measure all the height of MC's armor... I haven't found it... :(

But since I've got Autocad at work, I could scale him to my proportion and help to scale my armor (even if most of my pep are done, I would like to have another way that just trial and error. (I've read all the stickies on the subject, but even then, it's mostly an educated guess with all the different body types.)

If no one has an autocad version of the chief... does anyone have a "static" picture of MC (MC not in a movement pose)? a little like the drawing from Leonardo DaVinci?

Thanks alot

Do you mean that model?

Yes... I guess, that must be it.... it's very nice work, I can make it work with doing a rule of three to "scale" the measurement to my height.

If you have a .dwg, that would be nice because I could scale the model... but at least now, I can really measure the armor pieces with precision.

Thanks for the great work ...

No, I haven't .dwg, but I have .STEP file that may be imported in any CAD program :)
There is the link :)
It is 1:1 (86 inch high) MC mesh.

Update:

There Autocad DXF and DWG files are :)

Wow... thanks... I will test that Monday when I get to work...

I'll see but I might be able to produce a file with all of the pieces height vs your own... from 5' 6" to 6' 6".

Thanks again

I came out with a scaling method that is desinged to calculate the height of the armour piece so it looks like a smaller master chief that you can where. I posted it on my MJLONIR MK.VI progress thread. There is a link in my sig for it.

Heres how you scale the height to be as accurate as possible (This is taken right from the thread I had posted it in before):

First you find a picture on the internet that shows a full front and back view of the armour you are making. The picture has to have the full Spartan/Marine/ODST in it.

Next, print it off your computer. Now, measure the height of the person in the picture, and measure your own height.

Now, divide the 2 numbers and you should get a scaling number. For example, take my height, 175cm. Lets say the height of the person in the picture is 7.7cm. Divide 175cm by 7.7cm and you get 22.72. Using this number, you can measure the size of the armour piece in the picture. Lets say the shin in the picture is 1.8cm long, and multiply that number by your scaling number. For me, thats 22.72.

Now, you get the height of the armour piece. For my shin, I used the scaling number of 22.72 and multiplied it by the pictures armour height, 1.8cm, and I got 40cm. I did the same thing for the thigh, and got 38cm in height.

So far, this is a fullproof way to properly scale your armour correctly.

Hope this helps anyone out there who is having a problem with scaling.

CHEERS!
