At HOD 2019 we were allowed a "behind the scenes" look at the armor that was made by Blue Whale Studios and they had this incredible way of separating the wrists to allow your hand to slide in easier. Cutting off that bottom cuff and adding elastic band does wonders! I plan to implement that into my own armor during my overhauls.

That's such a good idea! I'm absolutely going to steal this.

Interseting! Definitely an improvement I'll be looking into making!

Glad I took the time to loom through this thread, your suit is looking absolutely stunning and making me extremely excited to finish off my Reach build.

Oh and Mark V gang for life!

Thank you so much! Can't wait to see your finished suit! Progress is looking great so far! Mark V Gang 4-ever!!!

Very sharp looking! When you're working on the undersuit, I saw saw one person incorporate the little servos on the side of the knees that they attached to the calves. I wish I still had that picture, but this is what I was talking about:

I'm back! I'm finally getting around to starting my "revamp" project. Last night I booted up Armorsmith and resized a bunch of parts to allow them to fit my body better and look more accurate to their in-game counterparts. It ended up being almost the exact parts that I listed in my big list. I resized the helmet, chest, arms, and calves/knees. I plan to reprint those pieces and take my time preparing them with my list of improvements in mind. I also plan to fix up and repaint the remaining parts. I'm excited to get to work on this bad boy again, but before I do that, I plan to finish up a couple background projects. I have a Cavallino helmet printed out for my sister that has yet to be painted, I have an Exo mask/helmet from Destiny that just finished printing tonight, and I've got a handful of unfinished props that I have yet to finish like my M6G Magnum, my Reach DMR, and my S7 Sniper. The magnum will definitely get finished as part of my suit, but I might delay the big guns a little longer. We shall see. Anyway, if you read all of this, thanks! I'll be back with more updates soon!

Wild, I haven't updated this thread in 3 months... Well, I'm back. For real this time! I've been working out some kinks with my printer and finally got her purring again.

I posted on Insta about it, but I ended up picking up NerdForge's UA/Base Security chest plate and I plan to add that to my build as a modular piece somehow. Probably with magnets. I will also be revamping my tactical/patrol pieces as I work on the new chest armor. I would like to be able to swap out those pieces whenever I feel like it lol. I also downloaded and printed MoeSizzlac's grenadier knees from his Jorge files on thingiverse. Also hoping to make those swappable with my fj para knees. If anyone has any, I'd love some ideas on how to do that!

As stuff is printing, I'm trying to think of ways to silence my clunky boot covers, as well as keep the front part from falling off all the time. Anybody have any tips or ideas?

I was planning to a a layer of 2mm foam to the bottom edges of my boots to silence them, could try that.

Yeah I was thinking of that. Only thing I’m worried about is the foam getting ripped off after one use. I was almost considering finding some kind of thick rubber that I could fix the covers to. Something that would work kinda like the bottom of a shoe.

Ive never used it before so i have no idea if this would work, but what about TPU? because its fairly rubbery from what i've seen and you would be able to match the outline of the boot covers perfectly. like i said though, i've never used TPU before and so i have no idea how well this would work, or if it would work at all.

I used some rubber (maybe 5mm thick?) on the base of the shoes that I used with Grunther, and they held up well. I also use the same rubber on the base of a custom USB foot pedal for VR drumming, and although it doesn't get much movement, well, that's the thing - it does a good job at stopping it from sliding around.

The TPU I've printed is flexible, but it's still very slick and plasticlike in feel. I would be pretty worried about slipping if I was walking on or if it tore off and moved underneath causing me to slip. I'm with PlanetAlexander, I'd go with some sheet rubber or foam.

I’m in a similar situation, I just finished the bulk of my suit from Nerdforge designs also. I’m experimenting with a flexible PLA filament for the neck seal and other soft parts

you guys should look in to the flexable pla they have now it is as flex able as tpu you just have to slow the print speed down to around 40 ( cr10 i have ) just putting it out there and yes go with a shoe rubber for the bottoms of the boot you can get it on amazon.

Exactly what I’m testing it out with right now lol looks a lot better for post process too

I'll definitely look into that! Sounds interesting!

This sounds almost exactly what I was thinking of doing. Since you've had some success with it I'll definitely start looking at that. I appreciate your input!

YOOOOOO ROBOT ARM GANGGGG, Looks awesome!!!

Small update: Prints have been going well! A new calf is underway at the moment!

I’m pretty excited to share a little modification I did with one of my files! I have NerdForgeDesign’s FJ/Para knees, but they are one solid piece. So, I decided to attempt to split them apart like they are in-game using Meshmixer, and I would say it was a success! I’ll share more photos of them once I get them rigged up.
