Books?! Where to start?

Very new to the Halo world and I like to do some reading. What are the ideas as to where to start?

Personally id start with the order of release so start with Fall of Reach, The Flood, First Strike, and Ghost of Onyx.

Then maybe go to contact harvest then the cole protocol

I dont know if you need somewhere to start specifically. I heard about to old character getting lead roles in Hunters in the Dark and wanted to know more, so I just started there. Same goes with Ghosts of Onyx, a lot of people pushed a character at me, that I just had to know more. Start where you want and have fun!

I really don't know the game or characters at all. If I take this approach I might start with Fernando Esparza if he is in the books since that my costume build.
