Okay, so I'm making this thread because I am HORRIBLE at posting project updates on my Instagram. I will start (try to anyways...) to post updates to my many many projects here. For my previous projects, I urge you to follow me CasuallyFlacid on instagram. So far I have made.... prepare yourself....

I am currently working on an SRS99 Sniper Rifle (Reach version) and a few upgrades to my armor. I will post updates here whenever I can. If anyone wants the files to my personal models, let me know. I don't sell my files, so they are free to download.

Ok so now... progress on the Sniper Rifle! I am making the model provided by MaelstromDesignworks. It is at full scale roughly 65" long and pretty damn heavy for a prop. It has a couple lengths of pvc pipe in it for stability and a couple wooden dowels for the bipods.
After finishing print and sanding:

After welding parts together and Bondo on the seems plus some primer:

I also printed out a few missing details on the model.

Missing buttons for the sight:

Panel for front of scope:

Hinge part for the bipods:

Spike parts for the feet:

Extra barrel parts:

And... one of the 2 big upgrades... a realistic magazine:

And a Functional charging handle!!!

I also added various embossed text on the parts but I forgot to mention that earlier. If anyone is interested in the mods, let me know and I'll post the files.

More updates on the sniper rifle! It's almost done!

20221126_112614.jpg

I have a bunch of stuff topcoated but still need some lining. I took some 5mm steel rod and bent them into shape for the strap loops. I also printed some flat plates in clear PLA, painted em clear green, and did my best to replicate the screen on the scope.
20221126_112636.jpg

I'm trying to make this thing disassemblable as it is very very long and hard to transport. The big chunks go together tightly with pvc.
20221126_112645.jpg

The Bipods are finished and should be deployable since i used a retention spring between the two connection points on the arms.
20221126_112650.jpg

The stock and upper receiver are done. The charging handle works great.

And the biggest pain of the project... the scope... is done!!!

Now all that's left is the main lower section! Just needs some hand painting and a topcoat! So close!

It's looking very good so far! I love that you're going the extra mile with a functional charging handle, and making it able to be disassembled is a great idea! Are you gonna make the muzzle break swappable to add an orange tip for cons?

I have an insert that I can put on the tip. This thing is really heavy tho. I initially made it for my wife's spartan build, but it's longer than she is tall

Good news, Ya'll! I finished my Sniper rifle!!! This thing is MASSIVE. it's full-scale at 65" long and weights about 20lbs.

The Magazine is removable, charging handle works, and the bipods are deployable. I also made it break down into a few smaller components for easy(er) transport.

Holy hell, I didn’t realize you were done already! This thing looks amazing, making me wanna start my Reach sniper before I’m even done with my suit!

Ya this thing is freaking huge tho. I made it for my wife's build but she noped out hard when she saw how long it is. I might still take it to cons tho but it's pretty unwieldy and heavy

Heyooo so I still suck at posting updates... I've actually finished a few things and totally forgot to post the wip pocs I took like a dork.

I made a couple BR75s from Halo Infinite. One for myself, and the other for my best bud as a birthday gift. Here's the INSANE amount of parts layed out on my build table...

This is the model by Oddworks on patreon. It's pretty much entirely functional so far as the bolt moving for every trigger pull and a wroking mag release. The build process was wild. Used over 200 bolts each and I went the extra mile with dying a few lenses for the scope and making a light-up ammo counter!!!

So I also am finally responding to my wife's armor request! Basically ever since I started work on my armor set, she's been begging me for her own.... so I've started out with her helmet!
20221214_103918.jpg

So far, she has chosen the Mk.V Scout with a few attachments. I have already printed it all out and filled+sanded all the layer lines smooth. I'm currently working on the visor and the electronics. She still hasn't decided on the colors yet... so I'm kinda stuck here until I get a solid answer.

This model is by AguilarWorkshop for those wondering.

These are all really impressive and I can only hope to get the same kind of results. I'm curious, what type of 3D printer do you have? I've started to print out the BR design from Galactic Armory, but my build volume is on the smaller side and I've had to cut some of the parts into smaller pieces, but it looks like your prints are all printed as they should be. Any tips/tricks for the pieces? I'm definitely eying Oddworld's models for their functionality but again I'm worried about the same issue.

Thanks! I have a pair or Ender 5 Plus with a 350×350×400mm build volume, so I can print really big parts. It has its drawbacks though as it takes longer due to excessive vibrations and longer belts. My only tip to you is to learn how to weld pieces together. Cut the parts with as few faces as possible to weld (avoid details). Get a nice soldering iron and melt the plastic seams. Cover it with some bondo body filler and sand. Pretty much makes the seams disappear.

Ah I figured it was a larger bed, must be nice. I just got an Elegoo Neptune 3 Pro and I like it quite a bit so far, but go figure they announce a larger version with a similar bed size to your Ender 5 Plus like a month later ha.

As far as welding parts, are you suggesting welding the exterior parts and just covering/filling them in? I'd just be concerned with losing some detail but I guess I would just need to be strategic. The parts in the set I have have some interlocking grooves so I figured I'd glue most of it with some 3D Gloop I got, but when I move on to armor pieces I'm sure I'll have to weld some. In any case thanks for the tip, it's inspiring to see your work in a format like this rather than just pictures of finished products.
