this is a kinda nooby question but thats why i posted it here. anyways does clay dry? and if it does is the inside still soft when the out would be hard?

Depends on the kind. If it is an oil-based clay, It should become firm, but not dry.
If it's a water-based clay, It will dry out and crack, unless you keep it damp.

if it's the oil based clay, the consistency will not change unless you add stuff to it.

I find that medium is my favorite.

Medium's your best choice. Soft won't support the weight of a mold, and hard is harder to sculpt (with your hands).
