Dark Souls - Silver Knight

And this is what I've been making of late. I haven't really seen anyone else make one before so I thought I'd give it a shot, plus I wanted something smaller to work on in between some other larger projects I have going on...

This will be a foam build connected with nylon and elastic with a normal black cloth undersuit with a painted silver chainmail pattern. The skirting will be real commissioned chain mail, as it is more obvious and the jingling sound while I move will be a nice touch, I'll probably learn to make it myself some day, but for this build I simply won't, I have a lot on at the moment. This armour will be scratch built from the few reference pictures out there, and from what I can glean the game itself.

The pieces I have made so far are the tassets, vambraces, cuisses, knees and the waist plating of the cuirass.


I am currently working on the shield which is predominantly foam with a PVC internal skeleton and handle to keep it nice and rigid.


The shield will be needing more detail and cleaning up which will most likely be my next post. Stay tuned.

This is exciting, there aren't enough souls suits around. I've been kickin' the idea around to make something from the series but as you remarked, reference materials (let along files or templates) are sparse. Will you be going for the look in the screen cap exactly as pictured, or switching up anything like the helmet/ weapon?

Thanks and no I won't be switching much up, when I was playing this was my outfit so I like the full suit. I'll probably go for a sword over the spear though, it's hard to get weapons that large into conventions sometimes. I'll also make the cape a bit longer and darker.

Detailing on the shield is done, also cleaned it up some more, I still need to sew the straps on the back together but after that I think I'll be happy with it.
