Hi,
I recently made a Mau5head replica. The sphere was made using a beachball sourced very cheaply from eBay. This was then covered in torn newspaper and paper mache paste (flour & water boiled). The ears are standard styrofoam, also strengthened with paper mache. The eyes are touch-lights, the mouth is a see through fabric, and the outer red covering is a stretchy type material from a fabric shop.
First attempt at paper mache failed as I stupidly over inflated the beach ball while it was drying. Do not attempt! The second attempt went perfectly and dried solid.
Covering the sphere, and even the ears in the red fabric was probably the most difficult part.
