Good afternoon, 405th Community.
Over the past few months, our team has been working diligently to make improvements to our Discord environment in order to enhance user experience, streamline channel organization, and maintain the interactive community atmosphere that you all enjoy. I want to extend a special thank you to NobleofDeath16 and JTF4 for spearheading this project. They have worked tirelessly to communicate with members, test new features, and implement tools to ensure the safety of our community.
I am pleased to announce that the first "Discord Refresh" will take place from 6/10/2024 to 6/11/2024. This update will be conducted in the evening to minimize disruption as much as possible, although some users may experience temporary crashes as changes are being made. Rest assured, our team will be working diligently to implement these changes swiftly.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to enhance your Discord experience.
JTF4 has compiled a detailed summary of the upcoming changes, which will be provided verbatim:
“First, I’d like to go over channel changes.
In the current server, we have 20 off-topic channels, 11 secondary gaming channels, and 22 ask-an-expert channels. This can be a daunting number for any user to go through and find things they want to participate in.
Starting with off-topic, we’ve pared things down to 9 channels. To do this, we’ve combined similar channels and removed a few that our server statistics show were rarely used. We’ve also combined our secondary gaming channels here, eliminating the need for the extra 11 gaming channels.
Next, for the ask-an-expert section. We’ve renamed it to “Quick Help” because, at its core, that’s what this section is: an area for members to get quick help with what they are working on. In Quick Help, we’ve pared down to 8 channels.
A quick update for the buy-and-sell area: we’ve renamed it to Marketplace and combined both the want-to-buy and want-to-sell channels into a single forum channel.
Second, voice channels.
In this update, we’re setting up a system that allows channels to be dynamically created and scaled to match real-time user needs. When a user joins a hub channel, a new voice channel will be created and the member is automatically moved. After it’s created, the original creator can rename the channel’s status to reflect its purpose. We’ve also added a regiment meeting hub and a staff meeting hub.
Third, ticketing.
Instead of having a welcome channel that all users can see, new users will now be able to click a button in the welcome area that prompts them to enter their forum profile link, creating a new ticket for that user. This will provide us with a 1:1 environment to handle join requests. We’ve also added a ticketing system for support requests. If users have reports, requests, or other issues, they can create a ticket that allows staff to have a 1:1 dialogue with them within the 405th environment.
Fourth, moderators.
We’re introducing a new role to the Discord server for moderators. Moderators are trusted members who have volunteered to assist in watching over the server andstep in to help enforce our rules and guidelines when needed.
Here are the new channel lists:

We are excited to see your ongoing involvement with Discord in the 405th Community."
Let us know if you have any questions regarding the upcoming changes and note that not all of these adjustments are set in stone. As we grow and evolve like any community we can and will identify new needs to address for the betterment of the larger community. If there are official requests for changes, we kindly ask that they be shared either directly on the forum or with the DPR (NobleofDeath16 ) for review by our teams to determine how best to implement them.
*EDIT* The "MemeTeam" channel was inadvertently left off the list I was sent, it has been added to this post.
