Hello again, I am interested in making a pepakura weapon, and after looking at my original plan (a battle rifle) I reconsidered. I am new to this but I have read a lot of material and would like to know if anyone has any suggestions.

P.S. NO GRENADES!

Suggestions? The Q&A Team. Best bet. The weapons are more difficult than the armor for the most part. Download the ones you are interested in, look at them and decide from there. This is an indecision thread and could be locked by a mod. Any questions, see sentence #2.

Thanks, I will look at trying to do an armor piece first, better run before a moderator catches me.

for assembling, larger pieces are easier because you have more room to work with

for completion, smaller pieces can be easier, because you can fill them with expanding foam after multiple coats of resin

Well it easy to break everything with Green Stuff as well...

Amen to that!!! :( I have tried using the expanding foam stuff on my armor and it completely destroyed it  I'm having to start over again and it sucks bad. A word of advice to anyone who wants to use expanding foam on anything besides weapons, DON'T DO IT!!!!!

Would it work to put expanding foam on the inside and then sand it to fit as padding?

ps. I will try to make a h1 marine armor, it looks easy.

Have you considered not doing something halo-related for your first time

I am starting with some very simple items like soccer balls I found elsewhere in the interwebs- all the stuff here is profesional quality and therefore difficult

you have to build up to it

I personally think the Assault Rifle's the best, I thought the pistol would be easy when I printed it off, but the AR was easier, every weapon takes a long time to build though.

Not necessarily, this is my first pepakura build (still a WIP):

And i'm faily incompetant :p

It all depends on how far you wanna take it and how much of yourself you dedicate to building ^^
But if you want to start off with "easy" do some armor pieces first...

The weapons are harder than the armor. They are enclosed models so they are demanding. BRI is doing great with her SR. You just have to take your time - more time than you would on your armor. Dedication and devotion are what it takes to pep weapons.

Made from 100% cardboard =D
Just use your time well and dont rush, it's not that difficult.

yeah, don't go and try a pistol just yet, that thing is pretty annoying considering its straight from the game (if you built one, you know)

Grenades are pretty easy, so try them. seriously.

I started with a model of 343 Guilty Spark. Not fun, right there. All the parts look similar, there's no real way to assemble it, etc etc etc.

So far, I've built 343 Guilty spark, parts of the M6D, a Boba Fett helmet, Halo 2 ODST helmet, and 90% done with the MK VI Mjolinr helmet. The ODST helmet is by far the easiest, most rewarding build. Try that. Even if you don't want to make an ODST, it looks pretty cool.
