Energy Sword

ok, i was thinking that if i was to make an energy sword, what would i use?
i was thinking of transparancy paper that they use for projectors or that film stuff and fiberglass just the handle, and the tips of the ends of the handle that connects to the blade. then, leaving some room for wires to go through, hook it up with blue leds, with a switch hidden on the handle.

does anyone else have an idea?

my idea for a sword consists of a paper handle + curved bit from paper, and then some flatbed scanner lights for the blades.
