Fibreglass Weight

I've found a decent supplier for all my fibreglaasing needs, but they offer several different weights of fibreglass matting:
<ul>[*]100g per sq m[*]300g per sq m[*]450g per sq m[*]600g per sq m[*]900g per sq m[*]and surface tissue which is about 30g per sq m[/list]
I'm not sure which would be best suited for my armour, and I don't want to waste money getting the wrong one..


Any advice??

The heavier you go, the more resilient your pep parts will be. One layer of the 900 should do it on the inside of your parts.

Might be harder to apply too since the resin won't flow thru it as easily right?

i would go with the 450 since its heavy but not to heavy that the resin wont soak through

yeah, it sez that 1kg of matting takes 2.5kg of resin to wet it out


I've had a look at more of there online shop and now I'm really confused, not only is there fibreglass matting of different weights but also tape and sheet and all different sorts of weave too!!

plz help!!

At the moment im using the Aqua Resin Surface Veil in the 30mil, This stuff works wonders, it seems to conform to the shape of the armour alot better than other fibre glass fibers do. Im not sure if you can get Aqua resin in the Uk, but it's worth a look around

And if worse comes to worse you could always buy the aqua resin off ebay or something like that
