Filefront Is Closing Down On Match 30th

Becuase of the economic situation in the U.S. right now, Filefront, the one place that all modders and downloaders go to upload/download files is going to be closing their doors and servers March 30th.

If you have made any mods or you are planning on downloading some, hurry up and do so before its too late.

That means you guys that have made pep files or have .3ds files there.


Farewell Filefront, you rock and always will.

I suppose I'll have to relocate my ODST files and update the links here.

That's a shame... filefront has been the most hassle-free site I've come across yet.

Anyone have suggestions for a replacement?

Well, that sucks. If anyone wants to relocate their smaller files, like pics, and pdo's, I have server space. It's FTP only, but the server is rock solid, 2TB space. If anyone's interested, let me know, I don't charge for a little here and there.

Hope they find a solution cous i dont wanto see me buying map packs for new pc games. I wanto make them myself with a radiant or something.

filefront is nice and all but after a while i found it really anoying with all the links you need to click just to get your files downloaded. aslo the search is good but it never really helps. for what im looking for.. also there are other sites like rapidshare megaupload 4shared sendspace all those good places.. and theres always the torrents aswell or a wiki or mods site to look at.

Mediafire is a good one too.

Personally, Filefront has been a hassle for me, I have to try and download a pep file 30 times because it thinks I have a download manager open that trys to establish multiple connections, which I don't.

Anyways, I (And others) thinks it's possibly a prank. Do you know April 1st is two days afterwards? So, I wouldn't get so upset, but if it's April 2nd, then you can be upset.

I'm not saying don't download like heck, go ahead if your sure it's going to happen. It's still 50/50 that if it's a prank or not.

Just my 2 cents.

Looks like Filefront did not get shut down, the original founders bought it back to keep it online:

After learning about Ziff Davis Media's plan to suspend FileFront at the end of March, the original founders of FileFront made the decision to buy it back from Ziff Davis Media.

We're happy to announce to the gaming community that as of today, April 1st, 2009, FileFront is a completely independent company again and is no longer part of Ziff Davis Media. All previously suspended services should be active and working again. We thank Ziff Davis Media for their cooperation and willingness to keep the site and community alive.

I think it's good news. I wasn't too happy with any of the sites I was checking out to rehost all the ODST stuff I've got on FF. Glad I don't have to relocate them.
