In conjunction with this nice wall of text, I am weighing out options to make an appearance myself. As my only roadblock with everything else handled for the event is, well, ACTUALLY getting there. I could do the 11 hour drive our I can do a flight. but with it being such a close deadline the former may be my only option. Otherwise members that are going I am happy to help provide promotional materials such as a backdrop w/ stand, flag, standing banner, etc.
Trooper S013 reporting for duty! I'm in Austin and plan on driving down there with one other participant.
Please note that I have plans back in Austin Sunday evening, so I can't stick around long after our duty hours on day 2.
ForceCon was a major success this year, we helped them ring in their first ever outing with this event and they have plans to invite us back out for more shenanigans in the coming years! Thank you to einherjarvalk , CdnameArkangel , and MyrHerder for joining me on this adventure of a weekend we had. Very excited for future Southwest participation opportunities.
Oorah! My sincere hope is that we can actually pull off a 1:1 405th member for each branch next time, given enough time to plan. Maybe even find a character within each branch (starship crew for Navy, pilot for Airforce, marine for, well, Marines, etc.).
Had a great time even if I missed arguably the best photo moment of the weekend. I'm really hoping to make it out to more 405th events in the future and earn full membership. In a strange twist of fate, it hit me the night before that MyrHerder and I had met previously at PAX South 2019, where I'd interrogated him about building my own ODST set and learned about 405th to begin with. Very good to see things come full circle.

Also, I'm glad to hear about being invited back out in the future. I spoke with the event organizer on Sunday and the impression I was getting was that our involvement was largely a case of being "on brand" for the Halo tournament, but if Infinite falls out of regular rotation for the military's eSports leagues, it would make it less likely we'd be "needed" again. Between that and the uncertainty of the permanence of the venue selection, I was thinking this was a one and done, but now I'm hoping we'll get to be out at Tech Port again next year.
