Question! Ok well, i have today off! so i figured i could hammer out all the resining today, since i dont currently have sufficient funds to get fiberglass at the moment. (not that the stuff is expensive, i live in the middle of nowhere and its an hour drive to get to the nearest hardware store that has it, and gas is not cheap.) I have finished resining the inside of all my pepakura forms, they are drying and i see no sign of warping.

My question is this, should i continue to resin the outside of the pieces? or should i wait until i get the fiberglass and apply it to the inside as well, then resin the outside? If so what weight of fiberglass should i get?

I have a couple of hours to wait for it to dry so im taking a break right now.

I would really appreciate some further direction

Thanks!

Resin outside, fiberglass inside, sand corners and outer resin, resin outside again, sand, bondo, form, sand, bondo, sand, bondo, ect ect.

Check the stickies in the Pep area.

Mini update::::::

Im done with the resining, hope to start fiberglassing next weekend, im moving to a new apartment middle of next week so well see what happens.

Peace

Update Time! ok i got the fiberglassing cloth and i just got done placing i on the inside of the shoulder parts. I hope it goes well ill post some pics once they have dried so you can tell me if everything is looking good.

Whew! it has been an insane few weeks for me, but I finally got more time to work on the fiber glassing, I currently have the shoulders, helmet and one leg done. wont be able to post pics for some time 'cause my cheap camera died. oh well. Im really hoping for some empty weekends here soon, i would like this to be wearable for halloween, but at my current rate of progress its goanna be close.

So what happened to the pics, both in the 1st post and the succeeding updates? This is useless and pointless without any pics.

Read my post again, my camera is dead. new ones cost money that i don't currently have. As far as the other pics go, im only allowed 4.88mb of attachments so i had to get rid of the old ones to make room for the new ones. These updates are not useless or pointless. If someone is actually interested in my progress this will give them an Idea of where I am, I simply don't have the means to provide you with visual stimulation, yet. If your interested in my progress please wait until i can get photos, if not please dont post here stating what is already painfully obvious. If you think my work is useless and pointless, save your self the time and dont post a reply.

You can upload pictures to Photobucket or into your gallery and have them in your thread that way. If you still have the other pics on your comp, you should put them up again. PM me if you need help with this.

I was also able to get about 70% of the lower torso done, just did not want to post an unfinished piece. I should get all the fiberglassing and resining done next weekend. Let me know what ya'll think.

My ApoxieSculpt came in the mail today! I LOVE this stuff, it has the consistency of play-doh, but add a little water and it goes on pretty smoothly. I just got done trying it out on the shoulder plates.

Two parts, mix together and enjoy!

I ordered 8lbs of the stuff and I've maybe used half a pound so far.

They still need to be sanded, but I have to wait 24 hrs for the putty to harden completely. Im liking the results so far, but I do have a question: Does any one know a better way of applying this stuff so that it goes on more evenly. I want to avoid as much sanding as possible. I still have a little to fiberglass work to do on the torso, but it got really cold here today and I did not feel like fiberglassing in the cold too much. Should have more pics in a couple of days.

you have to sand it anyways or you could keep on useing water to smooth it out.....to help speed up the drying you could get a 60-100 watt lamp have it really close to the ApoxieSculpt. it should take about an hour to fully cure

Whoops, I lost track

Is the ApoxieSculpt, a MUST HAVE?
Because Im starting up my ODST helm, and so far this is what I know
1.)Resin outside
2.)Fiberglass Inside, then resin over fiberglass
3.)Resin outside
4.)Bondo / Sand pattern

where does the ApoxieSculpt come in...

or... why am I having the feeling that the ApoxieSculpt IS the bondo?

When you fiberglass you are using resin. You apply a light coat of resin, press the fiberglass mat or cloth into the wet resin, then continue to wet out the fiberglass until there are no dry spots. You can tell when you get a good wet out because the fiberglass goes from white to a clear yellow color.

Thank you! That saved me a big screw up
