Here we go, I've been active on THERPF but that's my first post here.

I'll let my pics make the talk :D

Enjoy ;)

The helmet was first created on a flat template on photoshop using sideshow bust as visual reference, I then moved the template to a sintra sheet and then I cut it and started to shape it.

Other materials used in the process where milliput, bondo and final tamiya putty to cover little holes and dents.

It's been an awfully difficult and time spending job, but the final result was really worth it.

I'm really glad with the way it turned out.

Hope you guys like it.

For any questions you might have, please go ahead and ask, I'll reply as throughly as I can ;)

Wow. When I saw the foamies I was like hmmm... might be pretty hard to bondo over but you proved me wrong by a longshot. Fantastic work man. Keep it up.

Ok, the first cast you see, was pulled from a mold that didn't turn out pretty good.

But I had to give it as a present so I couldn't even fix it...didn't have time...I went on to paint it, hurrying that too...and put lights in.

I'll post the pics of the new mold and cast in the next post under this one

This is incredible craftsmanship!

Is this serving as a display piece? Or are you planning to make wearable armor with it?

Personally, I'd love to see what you could do creating the entire suit. ;)

Well done!

Thanks to everyone for your kind comments!

I wanted to tackle the entire suit as a project, but as you can imagine, this kind of "build" method takes for ever. So i started with the helmet which can be also displayed.

Now, with the taking over of pepakura, I'm gonna try to give a shot to the entire armor. But I'm not going to make the pepakura item and then resin and then bondo.

I'm gonna follow a different pattern. I will use pepakura as aid for sure, but then I'll probably work directly on sintra so that all the "straight" pieces of armor won't need any further work on it.

I don't know if I'm clear enough. I'm Italian and sometimes, my english gets tainted by my italian thinking :D

Anyways, it will take me a bit in terms of weeks to even start. But as soon as I start I'll update this post ;)

Thanks again guys ;)

Oh, almost forgetting, since I do not know how it works here, if anyone is interested in the helmet, please contact me privately, the cost of the raw cast is like...RIDICOLOUS :D I'm new at casting, molding and so that's why I'm gonna go reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaallly cheap ;)

Thanks!

i am extremely surprised that i missed this thread. This is so beautiful and i followed your work a while back on the RPF and kind of forgot about it between your updates. It turned out flawlessly!!

i think this looks fantastic and i hope you continue to create the rest of the suit, but just a point on the weathering that you added, the base layer of paint is actually the gold paint, the red is a secondary- so what i mean is that when you weathered past the gold layer it should have been silver not red then silver, because if you look to the movie they jarvis applies a gold colored layer to stop ice-ing, then stark says to add on some red on top of that... just a small point of accuracy. it still looks great!

yep, thats correct, looks like it will be fantastic! do you ever plan to sell any of the formed helmets? (not painted)

i followed your thread on therpf and have been impressed since the beginning! youre the only one that has put in the details between the faceplate and the jaw hinge. absolutely incredible. ill be picking one of your casts up from you as long as the sales push thru!

That's cause it was never on the actual suit, only on the CG version. Nice helmet either way, way too much work for me. :p

Yes, I sell the kit for 100 euros + shipping.

Actually I just came up from my box. I primered the master again. I have to make the mold again. The one I was used got broken :(

The mold should be ready in a couple days...I hope. :D

Finhead is right. The detail is from the movie, and I know that sculpting or making it from pepakura using bondo is not easy at all. Sintra allows me to do such things. It's not easy at all for a lot of other things, but these kind of details turn out to be really easy!
