Thanks bro! Can't wait to see both our suits completed! Yours is looking fantastic. You are extremely motivational for me to give this build 110%

Haha thanks. I'm glad to hear I helped with the motivation. That's a big part of building these things. LongShot X's Mk VI has always been hugely motivational to me, and so has TurboCharizard and PerniciousDuke. That's why I like hous forum. The are a lot of smart and creative minds here.

Based on the users you tagged, there's at least two. I'm not to be included on the smart or creative list.

Yeah I have a ton of screen shots of Longshots build. Between him and justin with Branfuhr studios h3 chief build and all the 405th guys following this, the motivation is intoxicating. I won't stop building till this thing is perfect!

it looks great, but now the question is....
are you going to keep it pretty or ruin it good and make it look worn and damaged :D

Oh and I havent finished the nose piece or the angled pieces that go in both corners of the visor window, that little piece missing makes it look incomplete but I'm waiting for my Branfhur studio visor to show first so I can fit it all together

sorry for the miscommunication. my speech to text sarcasm wasn't very good there... I was trying to joke about how big it is but now that I look at my comment... im sorry

Haha all good man I knew you meant well! I thinking I'm going to keep this suit "pretty" minus normal silver scratches and paint westhering. I do not think I'm going to take a solder iron to it to give gouges and battle damage even though that does look cool on some people's builds. I thought about the torso scratches from h3 but I think I'm going to keep it clean

I felt the same way about my recruit helmet. It looked soooooo good and pretty I want to keep it factory knew, but after destroying my friends recon helmet, I think I may make mine damaged XD

Yeah I'm still on the fence which way I'm going to go on battle damage. I still have alot of detail to work in on all the pieces except for the one forearm and handplates. I'm just going to focus on getting the suit built then I will plasti dip everything right before painting incase I do decide to take solder iron to it for gouges (solder iron after plasti dip = not good). Right now I'm way to attached to it.. maybe in a few months I'll grow numb and decide to give it the "fall from orbit" look. Haha

the best battle damage is accidental damage, keep that in mind, I got some dents in my chest piece from the way it sat in the box, i just have to go over the damaged part in silver and its decent looking damage with an actual reason behind it.

This is actually a really, really good piece of advice for foam costumes. In my repair kit I keep a small bottle of three colours of paint, brown, black and silver as well as a silver paint pen to fill in any scrapes and dents that appear due to bumps and scrapes while moving around conventions or wherever. Naturally occurring damage just makes for easier visual story telling.

That's a really great idea, I was actually thinking the same thing. Keep a silver pen handy for natural scuffs and bumps.

I like to keep damage minimal too, I think if a spartan looks like hes been chewed up and spat out, he shouldnt still be on the battlefield (y)

build is looking great too ;)
But I like to weather mine to look like they just stepped foot off the battlefield!! Haha all personal preference I suppose!

Helmet came out awesome can’t wait to see some more progress!!

Got the mouth vent things in place, visor will be here friday! Oh.. and some pics of me having fun.. lol sorry if Im posting to much, just can't help it! I promise the next post will be of the torso. I spent about 5-6 hours making my torso file templates from scratch pepakura files. The pretzel one is way to bland and for basic foam building. My files will catch every line and detail from the game torso, I'm very excited for this one.
