HALO 3 Marines

One Thing I do want to do with the Helmet for Airsoft purposes and a general talking point is plumb in working coms for my PMR446 and Active hearing (Very useful at sites where Flash bangs are used alot)...

Again bringing it close to what Real world Halo may be like! All Future Force Warrior orientated

Id say a Hud too but it looks like H3 Lids don't have them..and i think they'd be rather pricey to replicate..(working one i mean)

All After market extras...and its got the space to add it all..

With regards to the under armor..Especialy for the torso..

This is what i had in mind..

Armor
My ideas for this being...
Its low cut As we can see in the Pics of in-game and weta the Top of the shirt is visible.
Its Low profile and In real life is used under Plate carryers...Obviously dont get the plates to fit this..
The velcro on the front will be able to attach the abb armor without it moving around to much..
The shoulders add a good area to anchor the marine "DAPS" Just like real world Armor systems..

Just pulling some real world Thought into this..

Also with regards to the back...Im sure with a bit of Close cell foam and sewing The correct pattern could be "etched" int the back of the vest?

Thoughts?

I think that's about what I had in mind. I'd put more padding on the shoulders to take the weight of the collar piece. You could just hang the shoulder padding using webbing and quick releases. The closed cell foam stitched into the correct pattern for the spine protection is spot on to what i was thinking.

If need be as it has the velcro panel on the back of the vest affix the foam to that?... It looks about right for the position..

Ah, velcro; good stuff. Do you think any modern helmets could be used as a base to work from in building a CH252 Marine Helmet (the Halo 3 marine helm's designation.)? I'm referring to PASGT, MICH, USMC Lightweight helmet. I know that several companies make plastic versions for airsoft. If one of these could serve as a foundation it would make things easier. I like the idea of making this stuff as if it could work. For example, one of the things that made the Aliens Colonial Marines so popular is that they could work. Even if we can't use the helmet itself as a base, I think the suspension systems should be examined. It always bugged me that none of the marines have chinstraps on. Kinda hard to keep your pot on in heavy combat without a chinstrap. If you look at this concept art you can see several features of the armor that make sense. It offers up some ideas for various ways to make the armor. I almost like the concept better than the execution. It looks right. Check it out.

Its 11Am over here in th UK...Starting at 12 today...anywhoo

The Lid I was thinking of using Is a protec, mainly because its low profile and you can build up the armor on it..Modern helmets may not work well because of how they sit a bit too far away from the head for what we need..As they are already armored and theres room needed for coms gear if you get my notion..

Heres a few i have to show u what i mean..

PASGT

Its either a pro-tec or a snowboard helmet They both seem to have the low profile look.

Id have to agree with you on the concept look..Ive often thought where do they store mags on the In-game armor pouches on armor look good..

With the Drop leg Panels Im tempted to go for Molle ones in black..Maybe add the hard shell to that and have spaces cut in the plate to access the molle loops?..that or use them without hard armor and have pouches on them?
Panel

Get one in black obviously and if its a 2 strap variant then take off the top strap..

I live in southern Louisiana,so no luck there. I've never played airsoft, more of a matter of no one in my area playing than any other reason, but I have played paintball. You don't really need any more protection than the mask, but for scenarios having the armor and equipment is cool. Reference images are not a problem. I've been looking at that for some time now. What I have no idea about is where to start going about making masters for the vacuforming process. This is new territory to me.

what about halo marine stuff you've made. I'm dying for someone to make Halo 3 marine junk. We've got 600 version of the mkvi armor out there.

You'd be pretty correct.... ;)

And Halo Marines would be a nice addition to the costume line up..

I did some looking around and I think a "protec" half head helet may work. As you mentioned, it is low profile. I think it would make a good starting point for a helmet sculpt.

On some of the marines in game you can see pouches on the chest plate, but I do like the full array on the concept. I think that having spaces cut out for the PALS webbing would probably be more trouble than it's worth. How about putting a hard shell underneath the drop leg panel? Or you could just go with a straight drop-leg.

I was going to say go straight with the Panel but was in fear of getting shunned for non canon! ;)

I do have a half head pro-tec too Have replaced the harness with a MICH TC helmet one and the same with the padding...Seen there in that pic with some active hearing..

Yeah it does look good...The only reason i suggested the full head would be because of the ear cups giving more support for the Large Line of armor at the Bottom of the Lid..If we where to do a Bolt on that is..

Just had a thought about the camo...

How about this pattern of Urban..as the ones we have seen are all subdued digital..I had this set back in..2003 when i first got my colonial marine gear..(later upgrading the camo to the proper stuff)..
picture266in8.jpg

Its quite Plainly called Urban MARPAT...Even has the little marine logos mixed into the camo...But it looks prety good next to the in-game camo...

Thoughts?

I see your point. Support could be an issue with the half head version. Gotta try and make one and see. I'm thinking a kit of sorts that you affix to a protec-style helmet and add paint. Love the Colonial Marine gear, especially the M-41a. The MARPAT is neat (never seen the urban color scheme, heard of it, though.) but I'm not sure it matches the in-game stuff. The pattern on the in-game almost resembles a disruptive pattern, or a splinter -type pattern. A friend of mine who is a camouflage collector is looking for something that matches. The colors seem to be a sand base with a washed out brown or grey overlay, possible with a washed out foliage green. I really can't tell. It'd be nice to see the pure texture file, without it being wrapped onto the 3d model (hint hint). I was considering using Multicam. The multi-environment thing makes sense for an interplanetary force, and it looks cool. My wallet cringes at the thought, though. Here's a Multicam example for those who aren't familiar with the camouflage (btw, this photo is not of me. I just sourced it off the net):
