Good morning 405th,
I’m late on the post as usual, but here’s some progress with my first cosplay I’ve ever made for myself. Been getting a lot of help from TilXValhalla on things, and so far I haven’t had to redo any foam pieces, but that’s also thanks to checking each template by taping it together to ensure it’s sized right.
Hoping to get this thing just right. Aiming high and may try and deploy this in hopes of getting Tier 2, but we shall see. I’ll be happy for it to just look decent. So far I’ve constructed the chest base armor and helmet, currently working on the shins. Plasti dipped the helmet, and waiting on a different visor material as I’m going with the blue visor instead of the red. Hoping to have the shins/knees done tonight, then headed on to the upper thigh piece. Feedback is always welcomed so I can get better! Thanks for looking!

Wow looks amazing! I wouldn't have even guessed it was your first suit from the quality of foamwork, keep it up!
Well I made one Andrew DFT ODST armor suit for my son before this, which was my official first build, but thanks a bunch my friend! This is the first thing I’ve made for myself, but I’m trying to keep getting better with every piece I smith

Nice work so far.
Mind if I give a little bit of advice?
Since templates are 2d images and don't account for thickness of foam some extra work is needed to make bits and bob fit flush.
20201119_215417.jpgwhat you did here wont really impact the rest of the part but in others it may throw off the way things fit and parts may not come together. Also with this, you may have to do some extra clean up or smoothing out any visible seams.
I did the same thing myself on my first set of Greaves.
For a cleaner look try beveling the edges beforehand.20190803_023811.jpg

This advice came in just in time as I broke down all of the pieces last night to rescale them smaller, as I made the first shin piece too large. Thanks a ton for the advice and I will post the fixed piece when I’m done!

Here is an update on the build. TillXValhalla 3D printed me a powerpack, and buckles, as well as provided me templates, with his own unfolds. Huge shout out as usual as I wouldn’t have gotten anything close to what I have without the assist. Thanks brother! I have finished crafting the shins/knees, hip plates, UA helmet armor, halfway with the upper thighs (need inner pieces done), “leather” armor attachments to the powerpack, and just finished the ab wrap last night. Have multiple mounting points for the UA armor using rare earth magnets, as well as a magnet mount so the powerpack attaches to the ab wrap without me having to directly glue it. Ab wrap still needs mounted and all pieces still need to be touched up on the seams, sanded throughout, as well as small discrepancies needing fixed, but otherwise I am trucking along. Let me know what you guys think, and any feedback is always welcome!

Color me impressed, that is some fine foam work, my friend! Good job! Even that first suit you made for your kid looks great!

I'm looking forward to seeing this painted.

Much appreciated! Just finishing the last few pieces of foam, and then getting into seam touch-ups and sanding. I quite nervous about the paint though. Hope I can get it looking right after putting in all of this work.

hey can you tell me the kind of visor you used I am making a odst helmet and that visor looks awsome
Of course my friend. Look up “IconProps” on Etsy.com. The maker has this translucent visor material that is similar to card stock but it has a reflective finish to it, comes in either hex pattern or plain, as well as different colors. I’ve ordered several from him. Ships quick and is packaged very carefully so it’s in perfect condition. Only issue I would say is that it only comes in one size, which you can cut to size, but if you have a bigger helmet that needs a bigger visor, this may not work. It barely fit my ODST helmet I made.

Hows it going guys. Got a few more updates. It’s been a while since I worked on my ODST. A few months actually. But I’ve got a few more updates and have progressed a bit further, as always with the help of TillXValhala. Here’s what we have right now. Inner thighs done, working on an actual battle belt that can be wrapped around my waist, shoulder armour, and a few other small details. Lemme know how it looks. Just gotta wait for good weather here in Colorado before I can paint, since my paint shop is in the bed of my truck lol

Also, you have to cut it yourself. Like I said, it’s like card stock and isn’t shaped like a visor. Gotta find a visor template and cut it. And cut it bigger rather than smaller so if you need to trim it down, you have play.

Little blurry because my camera is freaking out lately, but got the straps done. They’re not mounted on to the base chest so do not fret about the way that looks lol. The shoulder straps are wrapped with rip-stop cloth and the buckles and straps are mounted. Just need to finish painting the base armor so I can mount the straps and cummerbunds.

Lookin good! You making 4 posts at a time to get to that magic 50? I've been there lol
Hahaha yeah. Gotta do what I gotta do. Trying to at least make the posts legitimate versus spamming randominess and pissing off the admins. I also see you’re part of the Canadian Reg. Did you see that TNTcosplaySupply is no longer shipping to Canada?? If you have used that store in the past that is.
