It has been another productive day.

List of what was achieved:
-Boots, Knees, Thighs, Butt, Shoulders, Forearms, Handplates have been Blackwashed.


-Helmet, Chest, Lightrifle, and Magnum have been primed [ready to paint]




I now have 1 and 1/2 days left to complete this suit...

UPDATE TIME!!!

Well Supanova Melbourne is over for another year and I had awesome time.
Agent Locke is complete for now...
I had a few malfunctions on the weekend but I plan to fix them as well as do a few upgrades in the near future.
In the end I am very happy with the result so far .
Anyway enough talking from me photo bomb incoming!!!

Master Chief and I also took the chance to have a bit of fun and replay the halo 5 live action trailers.

Here are some pictures of the suit side by side with my 2 main references. On the left the live action trailer suit and on the right the in-game suit. When making mine I used both of these designs and merged them into my own take on it.
Upgrades I plan to do begin working on soon for the next convention:
- Rework on the visor, and light it up.
- Enlarge the chest at the front only to make the chest sit lower.
- Install lighting into the thigh pieces.
- Remove current undersuit lighting and reinstall blue lighting only with smaller tubing.
- Add cod plate armour.
- Repair broken thigh zip.
- Fix undersuit issues with the elbow and knee areas.
- Fix loose armour pieces how necessary.

Your suit looks great.
A suggestion- if you made the armour a shinier and darker grey, I think it would look better.
But it still looks amazing.

After looking at the suit a bit more I agree it will need to change to a darker grey.
Planning to do a complete repaint after upgrades are completed.

So with less than 2 weeks to Supanova Sydney, and having a little bit of a break, let the UPGRADES BEGIN!!!
To start I added a bit more detail to the helmet, and am planning to re-cut the visor to fit better / install the lighting around the edges...

With the helmet started, while waiting for plasti-dip / paint to dry, I have begun to adjust the chest piece.
My main goal is to make the chest sit lower at the front while keeping the back as is.
This involves modifying the lengths of mid sections.
I have also removed the x4 clips and plan to have only x2 on the lower mid bits only.



Also please note: The new cut lines will be touched up in the gap sealant stage.

Black Underdog5, What is the weight of the light rifle? And do you know the strength of the magnets? How many are you using? I'm thinking of trying to do the same but worried about weight also. I don't want to be dropping the weapon and destroying it.

It weighs about 2-3kgs.
The magnets are military grade magnets known as jacket brackets.
I was using 4 magnets [2 jacket brackets] but unfortunately the weight is too great to hold it in place.
I main issue I faced was the lack of surface area of which the magnets supported.
This is mainly because of the design of the chest piece, of which I could only place magnets on 1 thruster.


It has been a busy day today.

Chest construction, gap sealant, and plasti-dipped complete.
Helmet base repainted.
All other pieces of armour [not including gloves] base coat repainted.
Undersuit lighting removed and undersuit prepared to install new lights.

Last but not least undersuit cod plate constructed.

Time for an update:
Paint and El Wires

So I decided to completely repaint my Locke armour changing it from the original plain blackwashed grey, into a cyan / grey / black. The cyan / grey is complete, just need to add the extra detailing / blackwash.

The new mockup is mainly based off of the original Halo 2 Anniversary cut-scene with a bit of the new in game Locke.
Its not 100% accurate to the most recent version of Locke but more of my take on it.



Also a quick tip on El wires.
If you need to combine multiple el wires together but don't want it to take forever and hurt your hands, all you will need is 3 simple things: a clamp, drill, and some tape.

Clamp one end of the wires down and at the other tape them onto the rotating drill bit.
Next walk back until the wires are completely straight and begin to drill slowly.
Before you know it the wires are coiled together.

Had an amazing time a Supanova Sydney suiting up as Agent Locke 2.0.
Met lots of awesome people and cosplays.
Also got to catch up with 405th Australian Halo Costuming Regiment / 105th Armoury and got some awesome group shots.
Last but not least huge THANKYOU to Button Fox Crafts for helping me through the day, and just being all round great friends smile emoticon
Got to secretly photobomb some deadpools, and entered the cosplay competition on Sunday winning Best Costume - Advanced!!!
Super hyped for Oz Comic-con Melbourne next weekend.
Agent Locke will be taking a little bit of a break so Commander Snowfox will be taking his place...
