Hey everyone, I decided since I had an extra turtle beach headset lying around I’d find a way to get it into my helmet. I should have taken more photos, but this really took no time at all to get done. It was the turtle beach recon 70, so fairly inexpensive if you do make a mistake. Just took the headset apart, a little bit of dremel work for getting the wire out of fused plastic parts and then applying to the helmet. Only thing that doesn’t work is the flip up mute because, well, I didn’t bother to retain it. The volume is adjustable, you can hear clear as day, it’s comfortable, the cord is easily tucked away and even though the mic is close to my fans you really can’t hear them on the receiving end of the chat.

This is a very cool idea! I wonder how much work it would be to get something like this to work where you have a mic on the outside of the suit that lets you hear better from inside the helmet. Also too could make the mic in the headset go to a small speaker to amplify your voice.

Very cool project, great work!

Thank you! I’ve been suggested to do sound amplifiers for the helmet as well as communications and AI heads up display. This was simple, that stuff has a bit of complexity. I am looking into a Bluetooth device that’s compact that can connect to the headset and wireless to the phone so you can have your Siri and comms and music.

That’s a great idea, if you find something like that that works I’d be excited to know. Would be a fun project to try.

I’ve found something that should work with this headset and looks small enough, I’ll have to buy it and give it a shot, might get a couple to see how it works for a few of my helmets to see it’s overall comms worth.

Aiming for cheap lol, I know of super expensive stuff that already does this for motorcycle helmets though.

So I know everybody here gave me great ideas for my helmet when I put the headset in it, I took some of those ideas and looked for the easiest cheapest option. Here’s what I got, the Apekx Bluetooth audio adapter 16$ on Amazon. It connected straight to my 20$ headset via AUX and took 2 seconds to figure out how to connect the Bluetooth to my phone. Siri still works too, so it feels like you have an AI in your helmet, can play music perfectly and make phone calls. The idea was to have a communication device in the helmet to talk to other people or Spartans while at cons and it works exactly as intended. I know there’s better things out there that are more fancy, but this was cheap and easy/risk free. There’s still tons of ideas that were given that I’m exploring, but for something budget Friendly and takes no skill, this way works fantastically, also this little thing is hooked up for charging, no need to remove it.
