I thought the Halo Legends series (aside from "The Duel") was amazing. Two things bugged me though. In "Homecoming" they say it's seven years after they got abducted (hahahaha 7 reference)and their flash clone is still alive? I thought they died soon after being created? Also why is Ralph a normal marine?

Ralph is a marine because he couldn't handle the stress after he met his flash clone, So he decided to drop out of the spartan program but joined the marines instead. a bit odd yes but meeting some one who looks just like you and is dieing is pretty traumatizing.

Ok, that makes sense. Do they tell you that in the episode? I know they said that two of the Spartans killed themselves. But still, how long did the flash clones live?

Wait... He dropped out? I thought SPARTANS couldn't drop out. In "The Cole Protocol" (The book), Halsey gives two SPARTANS the choice to leave, but they had to have their memory wiped.

And how did he meet his flash clone? The SPARTANS couldn't leave their training grounds...?

in the short there were 4 escapees from the training grounds. apparently they kept them on the same planet or something. they all tried to go home, two of them met their clones and killed themselves, the other two didnt kill themselves. the chick (i forget her name) almost shot her clone, but didnt. it does seem a ridiculous amount of time for their clones to have lived, but perhaps the families had access to better care and support than the average spartan family. I dont recall whether they said these stories were supposed to be canon, or more freestyle storytelling. also dont know why they would have had all the spartans on the planet that they were taken from, would have moved them if i were in charge......

Yep, these stories (excluding "odd one out" ) are canon. Daisy , Ralph, and two other spartans held halsey's workers at gunpoint and demanded to be let go. They then leave Reach by ship and return to their home planets. The whole time Halsey is talking to them through a nural implant. Daisy returns home to find her clone, in poor health, and almost shoots her. Halsey finds Daisy at that moment and tells her how they had been flash cloned. Hope that helped,

RAGE!

NOTHING OF LEGENDS SHOULD BE CONSIDERED CANON!

Explain to me why Spartans would hold people at gunpoint? They were TRAINED to follow orders as they were given to the letter.

How would a flash clone live more than a few months, they were made to die from seemingly natural causes. And a spartan dropping out, yeah right, they were never given the option, and if one just walked up and said, "I want to quit", they would make him run 5 miles and do a hundred push ups.

It's ah-nee-may. What did you expect?

Sorry to offend all you otakus out there, but sometimes slathering a huge helping of Japanimation over something doesn't equal good. In this case it's pretty much like some great and talented animators got handed the script after some higher-up in the department used it for toilet paper after a particularly slick bowel movement, and were ordered to get something out on a deadline otherwise they'd get their nuts tasered off by the electrodes attatched to their chairs.

Halo Legends = profit. A few casual fans might be able to enjoy some bits, but not me. I spent most of the entire lot sitting there, shaking my head in disbelief.

they made these episodes so fans could take the material that was created and decide FOR THEMSELVES weather or not these episodes were canon or not. It's right in the introduction of the makeing of feature.

This is a new episode in the anime dvd "Halo : Legends" . Ralph was a spartan II who droped out of the program and became a marine.

Well, at least some company is making Halo films, even if they have the 15-minute run time and are anime.

A flash clone shelf life is unknown, so it is possible that one could have lasted 10 years, especially if the parents were rich enough :cool

And remember, all because they were abducted when they were six doesn't mean that they will follow the orders of their abductors, would you if you were in their place?

That is a awsome way to put it. I don't think anyone would listen to orders if they were in that position.

Isn't somewhere a story about a boy and a girl who escaped serveal times from the training ground but get caught every time? So I do believe they had some spare time or similar. They wouldn't have tied them on a wall with chains just to train them orders ^^

Watch the episode with the comentary on. Frank O'Connor actually answers those questions for the most part. Especially the deeming fluke that is the flash clone's age.

You guys make it seem like Spartans are loyal as a dog, they are still human, if you were in the military and were ordered to take torture for the next 10 years of your life would you? Sooner or later you would break, I mean even in Halo Evolutions after Soren went through augmentation, in the end he became apart of the URF. A simple URF grunt that was a worker in the UNSC had easily convinced a full blown spartan within a matter of months that the UNSC were unfair.

Showing spartans are not robots and have their flaws.

I got almost exactly what I expected from this film. I thought it was a bit pointless. The Duel was probably the most pointless one, its a typical samurai plot but Halo style. Yea, cause every Halo fan wants to see that. I did like Odd One Out, come on you cant say it wasnt funny.

Exactly. They're not robots. They're not brainwashed. They still have free will and the ability to do as they will. They are trained militarily to follow orders. As the UNSC is based off of the general rules of the existing US Military - it's fair to say that any soldier has the ability to flat out deny the execution of an unlawful order. If you give a Spartan the order to shoot a baby in the head, I doubt they would do it. Because it is an unlawful order and/or an order they have a reservation against (provided they do have a reservation against it).

Really? I thought it served a very large purpose. You got to see the first "arbiter" as we are more prone to understanding the role. The transition for honorific title to a label of shame. It gives volume to the Elite uprising that takes place in the haze of Halo and shows an angle of the Elite lifestyle that is discussed in the games but never shown any real weight outside of the value of combat itself.

And you get to see a female elite which is neat.
