Finally getting around to a 13+ year plan to make a Halo cosplay and thanks to a friend agreeing to try building a competitive cosplay (upon the agreement I would too) I finally have my excuse to get this project started.
I'm a creature builder/performer since 2009 so the only part about this build that makes me somewhat nervous is blocking out the armor itself. I hate using EVA for armor (hate the upkeep) and there is no STL available so I'm cracking out the CAD software and diving down that rabbit hole.
Last night I about wrapped up the digital sculpt for the head so to get this build thread going, enjoy the result of a few nights work.
The head was sculpted on Nomad Sculpt and roughly colored to get an idea for details. I plan on casting the tongue and jaw membrane in silicone while the rest will be printed for weight reduction.
The stilts are already fabricated and plans for articulated arm extensions in the works. Ideally I will have this dude ready for Galaxycon Raleigh 2026 so I have some grinding to do.
Ideally the next few months breakdown:
Nov- Dec: create and prep all STL files, start printing the smaller items if possible.
January- construct the foam underbody and get items printing
Feb: Sand and smooth while the weather is cold, assemble the articulated pieces such as the head and hands.
March-April: paint and wire electronics
May- attachment and test fitting
June- pre-judge pictures and any final details needed.
Seems simple, right? Sadly I've been in this game to know it's never that easy, which is why I'm giving myself at least a month buffer time at the very least.
