Hey guys! So i recently finished my full ODST foam cosplay. I used a 3d printed SOCOM for that, but originally i wanted to have a sniper as a primary and the pistol as the secondary on my hip. Now that i finally have a 3D printer, its time to do just that

Files I'm using: stls from Maelstrom design works on etsy

Printer: Ender 3 V3 SE
(This came with a creality print program but i dont think it is the right one? It was really bare bones and mostly in Chinese? but i went onto the creality website and downloaded the creality print software from there and it has been much easier to work with)

Filament: overture black PLA from amazon

I am new to 3D printing, so this project has been a great learning experience on how to best make supports, trying different wall thicknesses, etc. but i am mostly printing the files as is with minimal adjustments.
Im also pei ting everything with a “fine” setting, so the layer thickness is between .10 and .12 mm. This doubles my print time, but ive been getting very clean results.

Ill post some updates on here as i go, just printing the last parts now, then ill post some more detailed build threads when its time to put it all together. Come learn how to build a sniper rifle with me!
You can also see more frequent updates on my new instagram if you like! :)

a lot of people use prusa or ultimaker's slicer (called cura) instead of creality's slicer

Good luck on your build!

Here are some of the parts i have done. only have about 3 more sections to print then its off to assembling! see you then!

I had some original, OG, Ender3pro back in the day and they always did high quality prints. Nice to see that hasn't changed. Those parts look clean and crisp!

Curious about the model itself. Is it a full, replaceable, lock in place magazine?

Hey saint! Yeah im keeping it 1:1 scale, both because its my first time printing so i want to keep it simple, and also yes, i want a huge sniper rifle haha. Im 6’, My character is 6’3 when im fully kitted, so for an ODST i think it will be pretty accurate.

The model will have a detachable magazine that i plan to put magnets in, it will also have a deployable bipod, using a brass wire and pvc for the barrel. The rest are hard parts that wont move. (Unless i can figure something out)

Looking forward to how it turns out. Files look good. I already paid for the Nikko files of the SR99 or I would have considered that set.

part 2 of the sniper rifle build:
All of the parts are printed! i went to home depot today and picked up a couple yards of 1/2 PVC which is designed to fit through the whole length of the rifle for added strength and support. i couldnt find any of the 1/4 inch brass rods that will make the bipod functional at home depot though so i ordered something off amazon and we will see if i can get that to work out.
i will likely spend the next week or so sanding and prepping these parts to be pieced together and then painted. Im honestly not sure yet if i want to just do the standard black paint coat you see in reach or if i wanna make my own color scheme, maybe there is a cool camo from infinite i can try? any suggestions?

ill put together some photos and videos of the assembly and prep process for those who want to follow along.
until then!

reminder: this rifle is printed as is to 100% scale and measures at 65 inches! its so massive it barely fits on my queen sized bed haha. this should be fun.
