I don't want to disappoint you there, but I think that inability only makes about 40% of all failed searches. The other 60% are plain laziness and there's nothing anybody can do about those.

I just thought there ought to be a sticky on this, Being a "noob" I found this method applicable and helpful, particularly since asking old questions seems to be a sort of ´tabu.

Well, there are certain "secrets", like using the advanced search functions of both the forum search and Google to your advantage, so a "how to do a search" tutorial definitely would be something worth having. I'd just not expect to reach 100% of the people who actually need it, because - surprise - you'd have to do some research to find it. Vicious circle, isn't it?
