Seriously, I see either him falling into a Forerunner portal and ending up on another Halo (Installation 07?), or simply leaving Halsey behind for a few minutes, getting lost, then living off the (glassed) land until they reterraform Reach.

i see it like this JUN got what gear he could off the ODST, found some remaining marines, fought until they where all dead, found the other spartan living in the woods(the one that had the choice.) found a place to laid low until they left, and started trying to rebuild the planets assault force.

After re-reading "Fall of Reach" last night I am more convinced that Jun is actually dead. At the end of the book (new edition - as I don't remember all this when I read it the first time) it is stated in a Covenant battle transmission transcript to High Charity:

"While Thel managed to slay a human deamon - something we were surprised to find here - he came to understand that its purpose was to protect a key military asset. We are not certain what the asset's significance is, only that it is, in fact, significant - it is a human, a female. So important, that the deamon protector swiftly traded its life for the creature's safety. Such dedication is rather surprising."

The female is, naturally, Dr. Halsey - and since it was never specified who was with her in the books (only that Jun was tasked with protecting her in "Reach") we can make the leap that it is Jun who dies protecting Halsey and buys her the time need to escape.

I think this is, in all likelihood, factual. However, in sport of the thread looking to be creative, I've come up with my own idea of how he could have died.

Jun and Halsey reach a small frigate and enter orbit. As the Pillar moves out of the way, Halsey demands Jun to attempt to hold off the Covenant for as much time as they can to help the Pillar get away. However, a single Covenant cruiser exits a jump a short distance away. It sends multiple squads out and over to the ship. When they're boarded, the crew of the ship gets completely obliterated. Jun escorts Halsey across to the Covenant cruiser, and into their hanger. When they get to the hanger, they're hoping for a Phantom, or a Spirit to ride out, so they can transmit a frequency that makes them appear friendly. However, all they happen to find is a Banshee prepped for space flight. Halsey gets to operate the Banshee, and Jun has to stay behind. Halsey leaves in the Banshee, and Jun runs for the control room of this cruiser. When he gets their, the door opens, and he is immediately impaled by two energy swords, one in the abdomen, one in the throat.

I know they made dual wielding energy swords impossible. However,this isn't play here, it's just storytelling. Besides, armor lock doesn't last forever.

please remember jun is absoloutly (--- sprinkles ---) at sniping, especialy on legendary so yeah..... more like shooting nearby walls and getting stuck by enthusiastic grunts

After dinner Jun and John began playing halo.While Jun was out saving the planet, John had been playing ALOT of halo. He'd been upgrading his armor and sharpening his skills. Out of the pelican door all I could see was covenant cruiser after cruiser. I guessed they were about to glass the planet I was right two minutes later huge pulsating beams of pure energy went crashing down to reach. The planets fate was sealed there was no saving reach not now not at any time. All the rest of my team is dead i was ordered to keep her safe when we got to the safe point it was swarming with elites and grunts and more than enough hunters. And here I am now looking on as reach is glassed as every soul on that planet is damned to certain death so many children's lives cut short so much needless slaughter. I intend to informally resign from the UNSC after this I don't think I can do it anymore planet after planet colonie after colonie, destroyed all because of some covenant basta** thinks that we get in the way of their path of holiness. This is spartan jun A266 signing off. *warning lights blaze* the screech of a rocket the pilots frantic attempts to shake it off.
