My oldest brother bought an Xbox with his very first paycheck, and it came with Halo CE. I was the youngest, so I got to watch my two older brothers play Halo co-op together. When they were off at vocational school, I would “secretly” play myself.
That carried on into Halo 2. Things changed with Halo 3, though – my second-oldest brother didn’t have as much time anymore, so I started playing co-op with my oldest brother. That’s when our relationship shifted into being true gaming buddies.
We didn’t really touch multiplayer until the 360 – up until then, it was pure co-op addiction. We played through every difficulty, and in Halo 3 we hunted down every single skull together. Those were the days.
When ODST and Reach came out, we always played the campaign together first, before either of us touched multiplayer.
Halo 4 and 5… I only played the campaigns and briefly tested multiplayer, but it never captured that Halo 3 feeling again.
We even had our Xbox 360 avatars decked out in full Halo style – sadly those are gone now, but it was such an epic time.
I really jumped back in again with Infinite and the MCC once it was finally “complete.”
