I love the bust dubean. It has so much detail and looks absolutely amazing. I can't to see someone make this baby (maybe it'll be me) and I can't for your War Machine bust.

how would a 270-275mm height dungbeetle helm sit at your current scaling for the rest of the bust?

Thats a good question. I am in the middle of rescaling the bust, and also including Dungbeetles helmet so that they can be scaled together. I decided that it would just be easier that way. I have to reunfold DB helmet, but i'll let you guys know the sizes for the bust to match sizes for the helmet!

oh good! i was worried you'd already started. I didn't want you to get too far, i was just about to send you a message.

note, the original bust size in is rather big. If you were to build a helmet to fit it, the helmet would NOT fit your head. it'd have be scaled to about 290+/- mm and thats HUGE.

okay guys so here is the current scaling for the bust. I haven't unfolded the dungbeetle helmet that fits within the 3d model yet so there isn't a "whole package" bust. There will be shortly though.

A bust with the scale of....

0.562 = Helmet size of 275mm

0.552 = Helmet size of 270mm

0.541 = Helmet size of 265mm

0.531 = Helmet size of 260mm

0.521 = Helmet size of 255mm

0.511 = Helmet size of 250mm

I feel like thats a wide enough range to fit most everyones head. Remember this is only with Dungbeetles ORIGINAL helmet file. I don't know the sizes of his new one because I, like most people here feel that the first one is more accurate looking.

Bust with helmet combo to follow later in the day!

PS, how do i update the threads title information?

Thanks guys,

Ian

Thanks man glad I didn't print and start cutting. :) Any idea what the standard file size is from Dung? I have like 5 version on my HD and can't remember which I used.

i think i remember most of the versions i've had started at 260 or 265.

you could always measure the helmet? although finding the exact high and low points may make it difficult to get a good estimate. If you're within a general ballpark area i feel like you should be able to make it fit.

I suggest starting with the neck to see if your helmet will sit nicely on it

cool.. i'll wait until you are done with the included helmet. I don't know exactly what file is considered his first version so I will have to wait to get the most accurate file

Update time! I finished the unfold with the included Dungbeetle helmet. The current scale is 0.60 which equates to a helmet size of about 255mm.

Here's the file!

http://www.4shared.com/file/8yjCBXht/Iron_Man_Bust_-_DB_Helmet_-_DF.html

OKAY so the new scale is as follows -

Whole bust = Helmet size (Height)

0.639053 = 270mm

0.627219 = 265mm

0.615385 = 260mm

0.603550 = 255mm

0.591716 = 250mm

I am pretty positive that is the correct scaling. If you get halfway through your build and find out that it isn't, i am terribly sorry! :)

Let me know if you guys have any problems or questions.

Soon as I finish cut and paste all parts of the MKIII, will immediately begin to build it, thank you very much dubean, I saw the prices on ebay and I nearly had a heart attack, you are great. :D

I thank all you guys who have shaped all these pieces, indeed, these masterpieces.;)

Hihi! I love this thread, I've been staring at the 1:1 bust since the first day it came out *drool*

I just figured I'd tell you of all people, dubean, that I just put out a helmet that was modeled specifically to be a replica of the SideShow 1:1 bust in case you're interested. I was actually planning on doing the same thing, I'm not payin' $600 for a bust I can make myself! >.<

OH MEH GOSH!

Well, when it first came out I saw it all over the place for $600. Did they stop production or something? o_O

EDIT: Aha, I see, they were limited to 1500 productions, as seen here

Sharkhead, i just took a look at your helmet, its a great model man! i really like it! I'll see if i can work it into the Bust file and create a new version with your helmet. (with your permission?)

Yeah i agree, that bust is absolutely gorgeous and would be awesome to have the real one but they are just so dang expensive. Fin, i haven't seen one under 1500 that i can recall. spendy spendy!

Oh, sure! I just figured I'd tell ya. And don't worry, those aren't just some stupid guys destroying an awesome bust. There was a flaw in it, and shipping is so expensive that Sideshow says to destroy the item and they'll get a new one. But they ask for proof of destruction. I talked to that guy a long time ago, thinking the same thing lol.

EDIT:

I have a picture of what my model looks like on your bust!! :D

Thank ya sir! ^^

It's in 3D Studio Max, I used the default little smoothy tool, added to "omni" lights and pushed render :)

And yes, agreed. I'd be sad to smash even a defected one. DX
