Looking forward to more progress pics!
Hey thanks for the tip!! Definitely gonna be trying this on some later pieces. I usually did resin, then cloth, then resin and I found it to be far too sticky to get it to cooperate.
I commend your progress despite the cold. I have the same issue in pa. Keep working. It looks great.
Thanks :] It's a challenge, but it's coming together.

Your build is still looking GRRRRRRREAT!
Thanks!!

So I threw a light coat of primer onto the helmet today to help show up the flaws in the first layer of bondo. I'll now get to filling the dips with the spot putty, filling some of the deeper mishaps (the sides I knew would need another coat) and sanding down some parts to get them as smooth as possible.

There's still a LONG way to go on this. I'm already seeing that the 'mouth' and brow need to be reshaped some. Time to dig out those old reference pictures and get shaping!!

Second coat is on, time for another primer to show me everything I did wrong! :p
There really is no room for flaws in the Iron Man helmet, as its meant to be glass smooth, and the edges are ruler straight, so I'm not even going to begin telling myself that it's even close to completion, but with each and every coat I apply, it starts to look more and more like the helmet I want!
I just bought a Dremel also yesterday so I think that'll really help with some of the edges, the engraving, the cutting and just about everything else!!
Well... time to get back to sanding, and filling, and sanding, and filling, and sanding.......

Edit: I just did this, which was absolutely terrifying, but it turned out ok!

It is looking great. If you don't have a set, I highly recommend getting a set of small files. A set is about $10 at harbor freight. I find I have more control around the small sharp inside corners using the triangle and square shaped files. A lot less scary then using a dremel. Also a mouse palm sander helps me get that mirrored finish once all the dips and points are gone.

Keep up the great work
