i dont know if i can compensate for size with armor or if a visor would make it look more spot on but im slightly worried. what do you think?

It looks a little long around the jaw area, the only problem with altering the size is it looks to be good height and width. You can easily make this helmet work with some extra padding to hold it in place, and a visor could help hide the extra length. I made this mistake on my Gungnir helmet but with a visor and some padding I made it work

Ultimately it is up to you to decide what you want to do, either scrap it or add padding to try and make it work. Good luck with what ever you decide and I hope to see your finished product.

im in too deep to scrap it. but ill definitely try to fit a visor and pad it up before i make up my mind. i made it of cardboard so if its that drastic i can always go back, do some surgery and redo the jaw line.

I agree with Zero, looks good from side, but to long, either way, you should really do the visor idea, and I hope you keep us posted!

i can turn it into this my making a few cuts and maybe having to redo some cardboard work but all in all wouldnt take too long...
the jaw is pushed back about an inch, its cut into the ear plate a tiny bit, and cut the new profile of the face

I look forward to seeing the changes to the helmet if you decide to go that route :)

heres an image of the helmet with the old cardboard visor in, doesnt bad imo

work the visor in or go for some serious cutting and pasting?

It looks good, but in my opinion the shorter look would be better, but remember it is your design, so in the end it is all up to you, whether you feel happy with it or not!

im new here so my opinion may not be as valued but i would continue with rest of the suit and once you reach the point of seeing if it fits put the helmet on and see how it looks in scale to the other parts. if youre not happy with the helmet make another one. you will have had more skill/practice with making the other parts so should only get better and making things.

I completely agree with Dean, making the suit and seeing if the helmet is proportionate to it is a great idea, cause remember, a helmet looks big when you have on a shirt, but when you have on padded and layered armor, it looks more natural! :D I'll be following your new thread, hope you keep at it and impress us all here at the 405th!

No problem! If you ever have any problems or questions, don't hesitate to ask a 405th member, most are well informed and have several armor/helmet pieces under their belt, so good luck!
