Klowd's Fallout 3 Props *nuka Cola In Glass Bottles Now*

Im a huge Fallout fan as well and I absolutely love the stuff yall are doing!!

Im gonna go grab me some Glass Bottles and make Nuka Cola and Quantum... I was considering trying a PipBoy but I know that It would be slightly to complicated for me!

Also for terms of Quantum to glow! There is a good way to make it a lamp. I mean if you bought 3 bottles instead of 2 and you shatter 1 bottle (With parental supervision with the younger crowd) inside a towel, get a string of 3 blue LED's and then you just have the LEDs hang from the top and pour in the glass carefully, if you light it up it looks awesome and its a great night light...

Its something that I have been considering doing so ya. I had made blueprints from it, Ive seen it done with professional lights! Looks cool...

@TF: Yes, glow stick foam in comparison to LED in terms of price and practicality is far inferior. However LEDs in their nature are not good at all-around glowing. Instead they do shine in one spot well but don't diffuse. And yes, I have run a test where I used multiple LEDs to see if I could intensify the effect...it didn't really work out. Unless you could find a way to create a long string of LEDs that could run off a watch battery there wouldn't be a good way to light an entire drink.

The broken glass idea though sounds pretty good though, all you have to do is attach batteries to each led and toss 'em in as needed. Definably can not drink though...

Oh yea, Working on a paint scheme for one of my items. Once I get that situated then I will post my props, till then...

Again, im gonna worry about the glass bottle Nuka Cola and Quantum later... Although i did find some vintage glass bottles and a bottle caper machine.

You coulld frost up the bottle from the inside with a VERY thin coat of lght blue paint and then put a blue LED in it.

I actually have thought of this a lot - and figured I'd share with someone with glass bottle access.





Take the glass bottle, open it carefully (you want the cap to be able to be replaceable) and drink/discard the Coke (I personally don't care for coke)



You can buy UV LEDs, I found one in a Pen that has ink that glows, probably need at least 3 per bottle.

in the bottom of the bottle (since most are curved) you could easily attach some LED and watch batteries to power them. Flat ones will pose problems.



For the "cola" get some canada dry (or any other quinine rich tonic water) to fill the bottle almost to the top. (as seen in pictures the Quantums are less full then the regulars) now, quinine is UV sensitive so much that it will glow in Sunlight - but I don't plan on stickin around to show it off in the sun, so the UV LEDs are there for Indoor fun. You also need to add a couple of drops of blue food colouring to give it that bluish sheen beyond the glow (for daytime viewing, it will glow but be faint)



Best part - you can drink it,it's gonna be bitter (it's tonic water...) but that adds a little realism that you simply can't get with glowsticks (unless you LIKE your stomache pumped)





Highly suggested you do the 50's thing and drink it with a straw to keep the mystery of the LEDs hidden, but there are other ways to mask the LEDs on the bottom as well, and make sure you install a very small on/off switch to save your juice. (turn it off when empty and no one will notice)





To hide the LEDs a little more I planned to use 2 cut outs of "bottom of the bottle" prints one to face UP (hides wires etc) with small holes for the LEDs, while the other covers the bottom and looks like the bottom of the bottle would - with one small switch poking out.



oh and before you just go buy Canada Dry - make sure it has quinine in it - it'll say either on the front under the title or on the back ingrediants. They have put less/none in for health reasons (over dosing before bed)



Health awareness - quinine is safe in normal doses- it actually helps with cramps in the stomache and such (hince the tip to drink tonic water to relax yourself) but in large doses (were talkin like a 2 litre of Canada Dry) before you sleep - it can actually cause health problems. The amount in the bottle of our Nuka Cola Quantum won't hurt you, but may help relax an upset tummy.

Ive got another Fallout 3 item built (Buffout) and a few in progress (Mentats and the Nuka Colas)

Those "Buffout" are Altoids, they look good in there dont they.



Hopefully i can get some more projects done now that im back in the Prop making mood!

Looks good! For just about any color of UV reactive liquid you can use a ordinary highlighter marker and tap water I use it for my halloween effects, I put a small blacklight somewhere close and it glows like no other. First carefully use a exacto or razor knife to cut off the back end (opposite the felt writing thingy)put on some rubber gloves then pull out the ink cartrige (looks like a cotton ball stuffed in a straw). take a small bowl and fill it with water and dunk the cartridge in it as it starts to bleed out you will have to mash it with your fingers to get all the ink out. Then take the water which now is photo reactive and fill your bottle of choice. A small blacklight near it or a uv led under it will make it glow like crazy.

The Nuka Colas are done guys, that was an adventure i dont wanna do again.



Hmm, i was thinking about building the 10mm Pistol, and the Assault Rifle to set up my equipment like the T51-B Soldiers from Operation: Ancorage. I figgured that might be fitting since i live in ND
