Long time coming, but here is my post!
I my father is the one who got me into gaming, and long nights spent playing halo together. He is Ex-military and always wanted to have a spartan suit, so when I started in this group, I knew I wanted to make him a suit. We started with the MK VI files from Galactic Armory
Loooots of printing later, and a layout to make sure i had it all. the white is PLA, the grey is PETG.
Father son bonding time, sanding the parts, using Bondo Glazing putty for the large seams.
start with 80 grit, then 120, then filler primer, then 220, 300.
then spray it all with the chrome base coat, I wanted to use the latex paint peel effect so I needed a good base coat.
after the chrome base I sanded it with 600 grit wet sanding, let it dry. but problems arose
I think the legs were too big
but maybe okay?
Then I applied a layer of liquid latex then green spray paint
Peel back the latex and then use a nail file to add some additional damage, wear and tear.
The assembly coming together nicely
More father son bonding time giving it a good dirt wash for that last level of wear. I told him to cover it in the wash, wait 30 seconds and then buff it off until it was good enough for an E-1 to give up and a O-1 to yell at them for it.
All laid out, time for a suit up.
Look at him, he is so happy
Shoulders are attached to the chest-plate with a small strap then velcro-ed to the arm.
Front and back
Us discovering he can't scratch his nose and me just losing my crap at that fact.
Not bad for a first go! Just need an ab wrap and then some boot covers and it will be as good as I want it
