Mesh ODST - Mk4

Hello all,

I'm back and revamping my ODST yet again lol, below are links to my prev threads
Mk1 - DFT OG templates, Foam build and Plastidip
Mk2 - Foam Pepakura templates, wrapped in fabric
Mk3 - Mix of 3d print, Foam, and Sintra, wrapped in fabric

Mk4 is ditching a lot of the fabric armour (SOME pieces remain but I'll get onto that)

I am shooting for an ONI ODST as always, but this time using the Reach ODST as my base.

I started by collecting reference images from Reach to inform my decisions as I progress, I noticed that the Reach ODSTs share the same baselayer as the UNSC Army Soldiers, just with ODST aspects layered on top, hence the mix of references below

I looked at my current armour to see what I could reuse if anything, and Yes my soft cod and buckle (mostly because I really like the buckle) would carry over nicely, so I now have the soft lower cod plate.

I then made some knee pads, combining the large hard cover of a black pair (cut down to look more accurate) and mounted them on the softs of a green pair. I specifically chose the green pair because they have the sliding lock thing that appears to be present on the Reach troopers.

I then looked to my helmet, while it's getting on now and has many imperfections, why not work on it and build it up? I've recently been messing around with UV resin so this will be perfect for what I need.

The Reach ODST helmet has different earcaps to what I currently have, so there's my first job -

Once a layer of paint is on it'll look much better I promise ;P

Now we move onto acquired pieces,

I noticed the troopers have a base layer underneath the chestcore, I pondered on what I could do for this but didn't want to beat it out of the park toooo much right now - so my friend sent me the link for a basic paintball vest which I believe will work great for that padded segmented layer

The shin setup is 3d printed by a good friend, the files are modified by myself to make them modular and easier to print/wear, but the originator is MoeSizzlac

At the time of writing this, I'm in a few different stages of prep/painting, alongside working on another costume too so bear with me -
The chestplates are prepped and sanded ready for paint, the files are from Aguilar's Workshop, modified by myself to include the chest buckles which the files are from TwoPennyProps

Shoulders are also from Aguilar's Workshop, the Rakshasa ODST shoulder set using the basic shoulders

These will be worn with the Rakshasa bicep mount (not entirely accurate to Reach but makes things easier for mounting and wearing IMO

I also purchased the Aguilar's Workshop gauntlets too, however I may need to get them reprinted at a larger scale as they seem a tad small atm.

I have ran out of filler primer at the moment so a brief hold while I work on other costumes, but my next steps are as follows:
-Sintra chestcore, with mounting options for the chestplates
-Sintra Ab plates to finish the stomach section
-Sanding and painting on the shoulders and shins
-Painting on the chestplate and helmet
-Softs modifications for mountings (Buckle on the back of the knee for the shin plates, buckle on the top of the shoulders for the bicep plate)

Things I am yet to look at:
-Belt canister pouches
-Back of belt pouch/cushion thing
-Thighplates (These I want a bit more indepth, either fabric or rubber lower pads with a printed upper pad ideal)
-Bootplates
-Helmet attachment

My deadline for everything I have so far is Cardiff Comic Con in the middle of October, so a bit of a crunch to be had here!
