Let me start by thanking you all for sticking with me for the next couple of years. Our community continues to amaze me with how many fantastic ideas people have and what they create, and I’m looking forward to what we do this year and next.
On the business side of things there are a few changes coming this year. MrJamin has decided to step down as RXO in order to allow someone else to step up and have a chance to serve, and Emp Frosty has since joined Division as one of our DJOs and will be stepping down from Regiment freeing up the RMO spot as well. I want to take a moment to thank Jamin for his time serving as RXO of Midwest under Noble and then being the stabilizing factor with the transition last year. He’s handled a lot for this group whether it was coordinating merch runs such as flags and t-shirts or running the show for Secret Santa every year and serving as our Midwest Representative in the Mantle Review Committee (MRC). I also want to thank Frosty who was a new Regiment staff member last year, but after having served as the original BMO of Longsword before moving out of the region, he dove into the role without hesitation. On top of his responsibilities as RMO, if you saw practically any social media post last year Frosty was the one taking care of them, reaching out to people to get info and permission for member highlights and deployment announcements, and scheduling posts to go up to announce our presence at events. Without the two of them I couldn’t have balanced the hats I wore last year, and we wouldn’t have as many people engaging with us.
In that same vein Parzival and SSGLordBert have both agreed to join as RXO and RMO respectively. Parzival will be taking over as MRC Representative for the Midwest and helping with organizing merch runs as well as anything else that gets delegated his way. Bert’s primary job will be maintaining our member roster and providing feedback to those who are looking to deploy a suit, but he’s also going to help with our social media presence including expanding into new spaces. The three of us will be working alongside Battalion staff to ensure that we’re showcasing you all and promoting the 405th and the Midwest Regiment in the best way possible.
Coming up in the near future we have a few key items kicking us off starting with a big con weekend containing C2E2, Planet Comicon, and Adepticon. A number of you all have already RSVP’d to either C2E2 or Planet, but our friends at Mantic have asked if we would be able to spare a handful of individuals to attend Adepticon and support them. If you’re interested, head over to the Adepticon thread. For Planet, Longsword Battalion will be taking the primary lead in running this event while Regiment staff supports them from a more behind-the-scenes level. I’m confident SpartanSweed and his Battalion staff will do a great job. We in Regiment staff have our primary focus on C2E2 with support from Harvest Battalion. We’ll have a larger space this year, so we’ve got some ideas cooking to make the experience even better for our members and other C2E2 attendees.
But what about the rest of the year you may ask. Well there are some things that I can’t announce yet until I’ve figured out the logistics to make them happen, but I know that it would be a good time to do another run of Regiment flags for those who missed out last time. I’d also like to add in a run for Battalion flags with the help of our BCOs with the hope that all three Battalions will have their emblems and can order flags by the end of the year. I’d also like to re-add more regular Discord events with a combination of Regiment and Battalion hosted events. Even better if those can coordinate with some in person craft days or get togethers. Some of you have already discovered that we’ve created both a Midwest Regiment TikTok and YouTube where we will start posting. Bert will be putting up a thread to gather ideas and volunteers to help create content in the near future, so be on the lookout for that. As soon as we’re ready to announce those other in the works projects they’ll be posted here on the forums. Be on the lookout, particularly in the Midwest Regiment - Members Only area, for announcements on merch runs and such.
As always I’m open to feedback and suggestions on what you all would like to see or do, so please reach out if something comes to mind. Thank you again for allowing me to continue as your RCO. I’m looking forward to seeing how we grow and what we come up with this year and next.
