finished pepping the ODST shin, it seems a little small, but i probably taped it on wrong, i suppose that is why it comes in two parts. does anyone have a good pic of proper alignment of both sides? Heres some pics

Im going to try to start resining soon, that is if my dad comes around to a decision about it

They Look a tiny bit too small..maybe like a couple cm's on either end but other than that, Great work on those shins...I've been holding off doing the shins until Kirrou finishes a new version of them.

PlaydohLord. I apologize, but I'm confused. Are you scrapping your WH0LE 0DST Spartan project and switching it to a regular 0DST? 0r are you doing a mix of parts. I read through all of the pages, but I'm still confused. Sorry! But I really like the way your project is coming along!

no apology necessary, i had a thread on the old 405th that was about my Halo 3 Multiplayer armor, but i scrapped it in favor of an MKVI/ODST suit, and thanks for the support! :D
:UPDATE: Well, my parents decided against letting me use fiberglass resin T_T, (overprotective much?) understandably, so i spent most of last night looking for resin/cloth alternatives and i think the most promising one is paper mache on the inside of the armor, hopefully it wont warp the armor, but to make it waterproof, i have considered coating each piece in paraffin, if i can find it cheap somewhere, and then bondo the outside of the armor. I have absoultely no idea how the paraffin will react to the bondo, (will it peel off when i try to spread the bondo? will it create a noxious cloud? etc...) so i am going to test this method on something like an ODST knee plate, see if it will work

This may be a little late in the game, but you might want to give aqua-resin a try. It has none of the toxic properties of fiberglass resin and does a pretty good job of strengthening. Works with fiberglass cloth pretty much the same as regular resin. Parents might be a little more understanding with this substance.

Hey, If you're going to try paper mache send me a message. I'll help you with what questions you have here's some link to info on paper mache http://www.405th.com/showthread.php...-FiberGlass/page5?highlight=alternative+resin,
, and
. this should help and you wil need a clearcoat or something to help with warping, but its cheap to get the supplies.

this is really coming along playdoh!

Hope you have better luck resining the ODST shins then I did....I failed on my third resin coat by not having the required amount of hardener and to top that off it was the winter of last year

aye, i did come across aqua resin when i was scouring the creation discussion and came up with an interesting idea...how about instead of using fiberglass cloth (my parents will have me nothing to do with fiberglass period) i use paper mache, and coat it in resin (x3 i think?), much the same process with fiberglass cloth/resin...but i hadnt gotten any replies in the topic

sorry bout the double post, but i have been thinking about taking mustang2500's advice about incorporating some Reach armor into the build, namely replacing all the MKVI parts, which even though that the MKVI chest took forever, im not really broken up about replacing it, becuse i didnt print the support struts so it was just becoming a saggy mess in my closet

Would you happen to remember the scaling you used on the chest?

ohh, i might still have it written down somewhere, hang on...aha! for the MKVI chest i ended up with 382.4 mm hight (Pep designer 3 wont take decimals so just round to the nearest mm) and for the MKV(B) torso in progress, i ended up with 417.83 mm...hope this helped, and if you need any further help for scaling, i recommend adding the second link in my signature as a favorite for your internet browser...i have used it on everything so far and they have come out great!

Cheers

ok, well, 2 things wrong with this post...its a double post, and its a MEGA-necro...buuut i just wanted to let people know that i am back on track with the suit. i was having such trouble finding time for it what with school and sports, the reach chest is a little under halfway finished...might be able to finish it within the week

I have no experienc with pep and that stuff yet but isnt that kind of a while for a chest piece? sorry if I'm wrong but yerp

oh yeah, some guys get their entire suits pepped in a week, but i have a lot on my plate, sports, school, girls, etc. :) plus i am not the fastest pepper ever... im really meticulous about my pep work....this morning i had a silent meltdown because 2 pieces didnt fit quite correctly together

looks prety sweet man, and that sucks that you can't use resin, I was barley allowed to use resin but my dad said as long as i wear a resperator i could. great work so far and good luck :)
