MKVII Build

I’ve got my MKVII helmet built out. I am in love with it… had some help with this because beyond 3D printing I am learning casting and molding. Not as easy lol

Shell: Resin Cast / Fiberglass Plastic combo

Interior: foam padding… a bit thicker than I think I want long term. Makes the helmet hot.. but for now it works. Chin strap with buckle for support.

Visor: Bolted in hard plastic with secured mesh to created the “honeycomb” look when lit up.

Lighting: basic colored light strip attached to an on off switch on the chin of my helmet.

I am potentially going to ad some of the orange that’s in my armor set but hesitant because I think the all black I did just looks so damn cool.. thoughts?..

Armor is the Prestige Amazon set. I took a silver undercoat to it, gelled in order to create metal chipping and hit it with black. Adding the orange accents is to pay homage to my favorite NFL team the Cincinnati Bengals! I cannot WAIT to wear this to a con…I have never been!

What did you use to make the hexagon pattern?

It’s a plastic chicken wire mesh! Cut to fit the visor.

Haha! It’s easy and looks great! I made sure to match the color of the light I was installing so it makes the reddish orange really pop and blends better. Otherwise it will look like colored light and then just black shadows.
