A lot of us on the discord were talking about how we could modernize the Forum to help not only invite people in, but also retain new members.
One of the major notes was the initial splash page might be confusing for those that are unfamiliar with forum type websites and would leave them frustrated until they leave. I know that the message of the splash page is important but i have pieced together a rough sketch for some improvements/ redesign
First, move the splash message to a banner on the side of the main page, remove "click on the icon to enter" (maybe change it to link to the register page). underneath that should be the shortcuts to each regiment for easy access. While i haven't put it in the photo maybe just a world map with each region highlighted and you can just click on region to link to that regiments forum?
Second, after the main FAQ and rules links a featured pictures slideshow, visually this draws people in and lets them know what we are about, we could give higher priority to conventions and group photos, really emphasize the group dynamics of the 405th
Third, next to the featured photos a live map of conventions we are confirmed to go to, along with the dates of said events. this will make it easy for anyone who wants to tag along to know what to look forward to at a glance, as well as for less active members.
The remainder of the Forum links (costumes and props, community, I feel are listed in a good order, but I am by no means an expert. Just my 2 cents.
