I am planning on molding a few parts for my Iron Man costume and was wondering if the supplies I was using is good. If anyone has used it could they tell me if it was good or not? I would really appreciate it.

Plaster bandages may be used, but you'd have to build it up in layers, and it'd have to be pretty thick. You'd want to supplement the plaster bandages with additional layers of plaster. However, it'll take a day or two to fully cure, depending on the thickness of it, and even then you are still looking at a heavy, heavy mold.

I would recommend fiberglass for your mother mold. If you're going to be fiberglassing your castings, you might as well just use it for the mother mold as well. Use fiberglass mat, and you'll have a strong, relatively light mother mold.

I used plaster bandages as a first layer. It gave me a easier surface to fiberglass

and ya fiberglass is a good idea. and haji that's a good idea to do it over the plaster!

Hey one thing that you want to keep in mind. If your mold is not thick enough, the plaster bandages really forms a tight fit over the smallest ridges in your silicone. My key registers did not fit back in the shell properly and caused my cast to come out wrinkled up.

I just remade my outter shell with just fiberglass
