Before I get to the good stuff, a little bit about my armor building experience. I have been into this for a month and a half now. I have invested well over $500 in tools and materials. I am retired (so I definitely have time!). So far, I have created five things (2 are almost finished) and a sixth that is my WIP. I work with EVA (hence, EVAkura!), paper clay, fiberglass and epoxy, bondo, wallboard joint compound, and molding clay as my main mediums.
My first project was an Ironman Helmet. It is almost ready for paint, I am just procrastinating!
Second was a Sharkboy and Lavagirl outfits for my children for Halloween
Next was a Seahawk hat (hey, I was bored and I love the Seahawks!)
Then my WIP DeepEyes full build (on hold for the last one and no real great photos to share)
And most recently, my blank buck for mold. As I built this, I started seeing at least three variations of this helmet that I wanted to make. I decided to make a blank buck at this point so that I could cast as many of these as I wanted. It is made with a base of paper clay and built up with wallboard joint compound and crafting putty.
Please feel free to post what you think of this/these! If you want more detailed information about any of these builds, check out my profile (it has my web address in it)
