ok, is this the same stuff they use to insulate houses in construction work? with the foundation and on the sides of the house?

yea its a blue condensed material

and how fragile is it? I worked with this insulation on a house, and from what I remember, as long as it's thick enough, it doesn't break that easily, but we're talkin about sanding it down here.

if you drop it it stays together great for movie props very durable takes alot of pressure to break it then when ou paint it its like an armor coating acrylic paints.
