New to 405th, not new to armor builds.

If it's like my friend, it's not actually the paint, but the 'spray' part that they add into some cans.

Or are you having a reaction on your skin? That would be ...well, easier to take care of. Long sleeves, long pants, gloves and a face mask. The air allergy...well, you'd need a full filter mask, and those are really expensive.

Look into an paint gun. Those little air guns they sell for painting models? They don't use the same chemicals as spray cans. ...kinda expensive tho. But they're easier to use for painting large projects than using brushes.

Yeah it caused me to break out in hives all over my body. But oh well, im still goiing through with it. Heres proof!

Yeah, i just keep puting it off. I think ill ask my friend if i can borrow his dremel. Still not exactly sure how to do so, which is the main reason i keep putting it off. Cant find a good tut anywhere.

*LAUGHS*

Oh I know THAT feeling. "I wanna do this..but...um..." :p

You'll have to have a first time eventually.

ok so i bought a dremel... and i found something new about myself... i should not be allowed to use power tools.. lol, after ripping the skin off my index finger because i .... well to be honest idk what the hell i was doing.. im set for hand sanding from now on though.

Ow crap, that sounds painful.

Um.... Let that heal up first, before you get back to finishing the prop. Or bandage it, then wear rubber gloves over it.

You don't want to get fiberglass into the cut...

And from now on, you're required to wear work gloves when using power tools! :p

lol, its fine and i intend on letting it heal before i try to use any fiberglass etc, i am still cutting out pieces to the chest i have time

It's looking great dude. I'm currently working on my first set as well. Started with the shoulders. :$
idk if you've gotten to them yet but I'm a lil confused with them. :confused you have to leave one side open to fiberglass it right? then close it up when you finish?

Helmet update!

RELEASE THE PHOTOS!
** note these are about a week old, so there seems to be a delay in my getting photos. Darn you laziness.

First of all congrats on stepping up to the plate and having a go at making your own armour.
For a first attempt its not bad.
Now I'm going to be brutally honest with you what I say next is not meant to be mean or nasty.
Your Helmet looks very very crooked and mishapen...Did you use supports to help hold the helmet in place when applying the resin coats ? Be honest!
Your Bondo work also looks very rushed to me its un-even and the lower front part of the helmet just below the visor has not been rounded off properly.
Basically what I'm trying to say is when done properly you cant tell its made from cardstock unfortunately with yours you can.
There is lots wrong with the helmet but I wont list them all.
I can tell you have put alot of work into the pepping stage of the helmet and your chest piece is coming along nicely. But it would be a shame to ruin all that hard work to not do the rest properly.
As for the helmet personally I'd start over as they say practice makes perfect.
If you don't already own one I'd suggest purchasing a mouse sander it will really help with the bondo stage.
Also read some of the stickies regarding painting techniques particulary the ones regarding highlighting the details.
Like I said I'm not trying to be mean I'm just being honest with you and for a first attempt it not bad.
But dont be afraid to start over.
Thanks for posting your progess and I hope to see more from you.
Cheers
