ODST pods are covered in a ceramic composite layer that burns off during atmospheric heat/friction. So, as was said before, the theory would be that the flood go under the same concept of "skin shedding" by wrapping their "troop" in flood flesh to protect it. This extra material serves the same purpose as said ceramics. Makes a lot of sense to me.

However, do the flood actually launch their troops in from that high up? It's been quite some time since I've played the core Halo games and I don't recall there being documented instance of a troop drop from high enough up to require the use of any kind of heat shielding for atmospheric drag/friction. If anything, I always felt the mass of flood organics surrounding the flood troop served more as a kind of impact absorber. But maybe it has that dual function. I don't know - not too sharp on the flood.

OK thanks man i it helped me on that one. I think i see how you can make a flesh pod lol. :lol

I'm pretty sure the flood lauch from out of atmosphere, cuz when their pods first land they are smoldering

Also, the ODST's suit is pressurized so it can survive in space (read The Cole Protocol), so as long as he can swim, he should be fine.

I have just started reading that ..... so no spoilers :lol

I am sure they thought of all situations that the ODST's could drop into.....water would not be a problem i think.

WOW Guys that is alot of info xD

but dont you think the odst armor will be to heavy to swim with???

I'm pretty sure that part of the requirements for joining the ODST unit would be the ability to do all sorts of things in the armor, and if any sensible person were running the unit, swimming would be one of the first things they'd make sure of with regards to mobility with the armor on.

Well if you get down to it the answer to your question (Will he survive?).Is yes and here is the reason. If you looked at babysitter you would have seen the answer for yourself. If the scenario arises they call a Spartan in. Only to single handedly pull the ODST drop pod out of the water and throw it across the yard for 2 or 3 hundred feet. Only proceed to open the drop pod and carry the ODST unit off like a baby. ;)

Drop pods have a secondary launch system as described in the books. If they land in a 'hot zone' they can "re-launch" and fly a few miles away from the location.

i belive that as soon a the pod hits the floor it pops open as seen in the halo 3 Tarkov trailer but in the odst game trailer the rookies pod did not open for a while. so,so i think they would live

Well the rookie was unconsious for 6 hours. It might be that he had to open it by pressing a button or its systems realized he wasn't consious.

If he drops in the water he probably wouldn't die.you see how much technology we have right now!!!!!well they're 500 years after us,then think of all the technology they will have.
