ODST Helmet Pre-Painting Prep

I just got my first piece of halo armor being my ODST helmet. Its 3D printed and has already been sanded smooth.

What preparations do I need to make to start painting? Then below is what I plan to do with the helmet:

  1. Canon paint job
  2. Black inner liner
  3. Either Foam or motorcycle padding to make it feel real.
  4. Adding a flashlight to the side where the bracket is and maybe trying to attach a fake battery pack on the rear outer side.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hey Helljumper!

Theres a lot of different painting techniques that you can use, just depends on if you want it looking brand new or have battle damage and so on. You can use rattle can (spray paint) for it all or you can airbrush or you can even use a brush on type of paint.

You will need masking materials so you can hit areas with certain colors as well as a top coat for whatever type of painting you wish to go with to either give it a glossy sheen or just a nice flat look.

I would strongly suggest painting it fully before adding in visor or any of the innards fully just in case the paint gets on anything on the inside.

Amazon has some great helmet padding kits that will help pad your bucket easily and allow space for wiring and such as needed.

Happy Building!
