ODST Shin Armor Problems

So, I'm at the point in my ODST armor project where I need to think about how the armor is going to be mounted. I honestly don't know how I can make the shin armor pieces stay on my legs. At first, I thought I'd make a cast of my legs, position it, and fill in the space with Great Stuff. But, after seeing what happened here... http://405th.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=2411 Well, I'm worried the same thing might happen to me.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to keep these things stay on my legs?

im just going to use like thick padding like you would put in a comp chair in my legs.... im going to fiber glass resin it then do the muslin diped in a mix of water and glue then glue the padding in
