Soft Parts Odst Undersuit Finds

MightyMints is using a Nomex flight suit and i personally think that its a great idea for a start. You get a one piece flight suit, with its fire retardent capabilities. However if you buy new you're looking at around $160 for black so i personally will be dying a green one to black. I bought it for 10 bucks used.

Oh, wow. This the most extensive list of undersuits I have found. Currently, am deciding which to put on my ebay watchlist! Thanks for digging all of this up for every one else! :D

Or $40 for an already black flight suit from an army surplus store like this one kind close to me.

hey all,

just wanted to drop you a line,

i'm going to be getting a set of these:

Next-Generation%20Digi-Urban%20Camouflage%20Uniform%20Set.jpg

for the under armour...

then this bad boy for the armour base:

sdu_bk_2.jpg

it also includes a flip down groin protector so i can add the 'd' rings myself

then for gloves i'm using:

Oakley_gloves_a.jpg

for boots i'm just gonna go with some standard magnums (or bates' because they are better quality).

im basically aiming for an urban ODST but don't want to be too black heavy, though I do have a black nomex overall to wear if i wanna go more accurate...

ps: just between me and you guys the knife on the weta ODST is the Kershaw Responder:

hehe you can have that one for free...

For the ODST suits in Operation Chastity I've decided to use three left-over vests I have which were made, but not used on screen, for the movie Doom.

I've already de-pouched them (with the exception of the pouches on the back), and now it's a case of working out armour plate positioning, strapping and so on. :)

So, a group of friends and I have created a plan for super efficient bullet proof armor. After much research, we estimate it can stop a magazine of 44 magnums to the chest from 10 to 20 feet away. Its only 4.56 cm (less than 2 inches. dragonskin is about 1.5) thick from outside to contact with skin. We are going to then model and apply this plating to a gray digital camo BDU. any ideas? i posted this here because the ODST armor design seem to be the most efficient, like our armor. Also, we've developed it so that it reduces broken bones and lacerated organs but it will still give you one hell of a welt and ache.

I have been away from both HALO and the 405th Forums for a while, life has be hectic and crazy. Anyone have some good high res pictures of the ODST Soft Under Armor? I am going to be making my own and want it to be as authentic as possible. I have both google searched and forum searched and so far have come up with nothing.

I have them exact gloves, but I use them when I ride my 07 R1. Ill have to pic up another pair, I was thinking about using them as well. I picked mine up at the local Yamaha Shop and they dont have anymore, can you PM me a web link to a site that sells them. kneedraggers does not carry them anymore I think

I reakon that in the WETA they use a Black BDU shirt and pants, because it looks kinda loose. A flight suit would be ok but i think that its better to go with separate shirt and pants because you can get betters fits there easier to find and from my experience of using a flight suit as the base for a ghillie suit walking around in them for a few hours can get abit annoying, there ideal for proning and crawling on the ground but not really for walking or running long distances.

I also noticed in the WETA that the bicep armor plates are not attached to to chest rig/vest. They look like its an epaulette strap (basically its a piece of material that in cadets in Army Australia has your rank on it and it attaches to the epaulette (rank slide) and goes down your arm) that has the armor attached onto it, and is fastened down to the bicep with elastic material. This is also another reason why BDU shirts r better.

For the vest i think that this one mentioned before http://www.pyramydair.com/s/a/Leapers_UTG_Web_Tactical_Vest_Black/2727 is the best because the armor could more easily be attached. but H4ZZ4RD's vest would also work well because the WETA vest goes right up to the neck where the neck seal would be.

@Peter Cooper, when you rig all the armour plates onto the chest, can you take some pictures of the rig (how you attached stuf etc.) on here so all of us odsts-in-the-making can see examples of it please?

I was thinking of using This for the torso, as it has the tight fittingg chest and looks fitting, also the velcro could come in useful for attaching shoulder pieces.

as far as the rest, I was looking at using an army issue style H- harness in black, connecting to a black MOLLE Blast belt, positioned pretty high, because it is similar to the piece that holds on the lower chest pieces in the game, though this is still all conceptual. Cheapest source for everything here, save the Combat Shirt is ehobbyasia.

Sure thing. We've got three Sean Bradley armour sets coming, so I'll show once we've got them here. :)

Anyone thought about using just a simple H Harness? I'm debating whether or not that would be a good idea. You'd have the straps and d ring, but i'd be hard put to figure out how to place on individual chest pieces...

Here is my idea. First, the materials.

Any H harness will do.

Vest:

Neck Seal:

Soft Armor Padding:

The Gloves:

BDU's:

http://www.bdu.com/F546425001.html

Straps:

Buckles:

http://www.strapwork...le_p/msrb-a.htm

http://www.strapwork...lides_p/sss.htm

http://www.strapwork...bs_p/mdr-5k.htm

The plan:

the gloves, BDU's, neck seal and vest are self explanatory. you put em on. The vest goes on, and a H harness goes over the vest. you buckle up the straps that come seperatly with the metal buckles, depending on where the buckles go depends on which buckle you use. when the straps are buckled and sewn in a way where they can't leave the buckle, you attach the metal buckles/the straps to the H harness where needed and on the vest. where u make the straps unadjustable is where it actually attaches to the armor. thats where the side release buckles are used; on the unadjustable places of the armor so u can seperate and attach the armor as needed. it won't be an accurate undersuit, and i dont think u can really make one except for certain areas. and im planning on using this setup for my ODST armor that i'm going to make. Like i said, it won't be accurate, but i think it'll look good. tell me wut u think guys :)
