Ohio Booth Build - Ideas

yooooo this is so exciting! I hope to be down there for some build days whenever they happen!

Jocko made some nice live-fire themed walls for the booth in southern. He used a thin material secured to a 1x2 frame. The whole thing was made of 4'x8' sections which were held together with wing nuts. The walls held themselves up because of the 90 degree corner walls. That way he could have solid walls without needing to sacrifice any space for supports around the back. Even if you don't decide to go that route I figured you might find it interesting.

We have a 20ft x 40ft space at Cleveland Gaming Classic in September this year
Man I wish FanEx would get back to me that far in advance lol

A Discord call is not required, and we should still aim to use forums as the main source of communication / documentation. If you're up for a group Discord call, what time works for you? I am available weekends.
usually saturday works! I don't think I'd be a huge part of the building process because of how far away I am, but if there's a day coming up that you're thinking of getting ppl together let me know! The weekends of July 5 and 19 are open for me right now!

It won't be the last time I do this probably, but here's a list of tools we have for use towards the build at our place :

(2) Bambu X1C printers w/ AMS units
(3) Wired sanders
(2-3) Battery powered drills + Impacts
(1) Small miter saw
(1) Battery powered circular saw
(1) Scroll saw
(1) Sawzall
(1) Oscillating Tool
(1) Projector (Cast a design on the wall to be traced and painted)
(1) Gaming laptop PC that can be brought out to garage should it be needed for references
(1) Pickup truck with a bed cap for gathering materials (Thanks FuriousFido)
(1) Kreg 2 hole pocket hole jig (if needed)

Some misc tools of course, but that's the bulk of what is required for wood working projects. That's all I can think of at the moment...

Attached will be images of the crates I mentioned I had, but also an art reference for a Reach style weapon rack that someone else brought up before that I liked. Which we'll need to get the typical weapon rack designs so that we can have a set for this booth too (Who made those?).

Lastly, I mentioned this to Wayward Flood, but I would like to get a discord call going one night at least for us to all conversate about design and ideas too. The sooner we pass this stage, the sooner materials can be obtained and the build can begin. We can have more than one if you're unable to participate for the first call, or, just lay it all out here anyway! :)

What about also considering the weapon briefcases that show up in Reach throughout the campaign? That might be an interesting concept to look into

I have a some sheets of 1/8" particle board and 3/4" OSB board I can donate.

The tools and I have are:

1x Circular Saw Corded

2x Sanders Corded

1x Osculating Tool Battery Powered

1x Drill Battery Powered

the lore friendly trifold camping stools would be cool.. then those who show can just gather around and chill..
Sand bags would be cool too!! noticing from the Live fire image. could just fill them with stuffing or packing peanuts to not create the load a normal bag would be!

We also had sandbags at TORG in November, so if the SSG gang would be open to sharing their collection it probably wouldn’t be too difficult to get access to some

We can do something similar and use actually sand bags and we could fill it will spray foam or something like that. On a similar note something was brought up in a different chat, we could also build a m247 mounted MG and make it out of Foam to also keep it light weight.

For any and all who want to partake, how does a meeting sound for this Saturday night (2025/06/07), lets say 8pm EST in the 405th Discord?

I can create the channel and record the conversation for any who miss out. I hope to get a good path to move on into the build.

During the for the first meeting we can discuss:
-A recap of the goal(s) with the booth and what has been done for those unaware
-Layout (how many walls for the space available, room build?, look at the map(s) in game if need be)
-Breakup who can do what on their own time
-Accessories for the booth (turret, weapon stands, sandbags, crates, etc..)
-Build day dates (If we're shooting for CGC, we NEED to get progress made)

Noticed earlier in the thread that there was discussion over doing a holotable for this one, along with some references. Thanks to the magic of the Halo Archive and the Ekur tool for Infinite, it's possible to rip the models and textures for (most) of the forge props in the game, and the holotable is one of them. It still isn't perfect, as the holographic textures are still being worked on to rip properly, but everything else is there. Here's some quick pictures and a drive link to the .blend file for those involved in this project. Good luck from Harvest!
