That is the one I've heard people use to coat their foam armor, the concept shouldn't be much different though I'd recommend at least resining the pep before doing anything, as the cardstock can only take so much abuse, the resin extends its life that much further.
This is not an exact science, there are 50000000000 ways to do things, you gotta try out ones that interest you and see which ones work best.
