So I decided to take a stab at working with foam. I found a bunch of good files from Halo Reach so I decided to do a multiplayer build.
Progress so far. I have got forearms and knees done.
The pair

sizing seems good to me. a little big around the wrists but i cant get my hand through otherwise.

knees

I decided to flip the recessed pieces to add some texture to the piece. thinking about doing it through the whole suit. just a few pieces here and there. nothing to crazy since I dont want them to make the suit look to cluttered.

Thoughts...ideas....?

Your progress looks good so far dude, the little flipped parts look cool the odd bit of texture couldn't hurt and nice to see another foam spartan, when I get the time I'm next in line for one

Great work so far, by the looks of it you'll have a wicked suit in no time. Your knees make me jealous, they're a much better shape than mine.
I agree with you both, the bits few bits of texture will make it pop. I like to see how well it can be used on Mass Effect suits. Nice sleeve too ;)

Great start! You did an excellent job on the parts, though I think the forearm looks like it's a bit too tight around your upper arm. I fear it may be hard to slide the piece onto your arm when you're wearing an undersuit.

I like the texture, it adds flavor. Haha.

Thanks guys. I'm having Fun with it for sure. I'm glad I'm not the only one that thinks the texture will look good. Still getting used to the sizing adjustments to compensate for the thickness of the foam. The first forearm I made I couldn't get my hand through. These ones should be OK. Luckily my undersuit isn't to thick.

Thanks saiko my sleeve is all my own artwork. 17 hours of tattooing to get it all done. :)

Update... not to much done since I have been busy. Managed to complete a shin over a couple days. I have only had about an hour each morning before I have to leave for work. My son has decided he wants a reach suit as well so I have him all measured up and have started on his pieces as well. That one will be Fun since he is almost six and way smaller than me. So yippee for a double build Lol.
Here is the shin.

Now I am starting on the thigh for the same leg. I also have the knees done. I will post pics when I have them attached to the shins.

another update...
got a thigh done. I might redo the inner thigh with thinner foam so they arent so bulky on the inside.

attached a knee to the shin.

How does the scale look for the knee?
IMG_20131228_121420_342.jpg
I also made some knives. blue for me, orange for my 11 yr old nephew(who is getting ready to start his own build), and the kukuri for my sons armor since his will be heavily inspired by emile.

once my wife gets home I will upload some pics of me wearing the leg armor so see the scale better. I think they fit pretty good, but I am always open to suggestions.
next up... the other thigh, shin and boots.

The knee is positioned on the backside of your shin...lol...other than that, everything is looking pretty good.

Yeah I was also thinking it was a little far back. I will reposition it farther forward.

the Khukuri looks a little bit small. for a reference, if you don't mind me showing an image of mine

here is a link to my two knives, with the basic size difference to an average sized human.
I sized it down because my son is 5 and the standard size was going to be huge on his shoulder.

No, I mean your shin is actually backwards, you have the knee attached to the back of the shin...

He us saying your knee cover is on the back part of the shin armor not on the front where it suppose to be

so I made a forearm for my son. it turned out a little small lol. at least it dosen't take a lot of foam for his pieces
IMG_20131229_081155_838.jpg
The length was almost perfect but it isn't big enough around for him to get his hand through.

Yes, its definitely backwards...look at a reference picture...just tryin to help...

Well... i feel like a jackass lol. it sure is backwards. I think it looks better and has better articulation but game acurate is more important. I shall fix it immediatly. thanks for pointing that out.
