Red Cortana Halo 1 Action Figure Prototype?

Did a google search and found an article from April of 2008 on HBO that describes a similar auction on ebay, red Cortana claiming to be a prototype, and they got confirmation that it was authentic:

http://nikon.bungie.org/news.html?item=22530

and it seems to match the picture from this list of known prototypes:
http://www.sunnyshineup.com/forum/viewtopi...c66ca7c4180a712

And a search on Flickr yielded:

On one hand I was quick to believe it was authentic becuase the red plastic still seemed to be translucent, which I think would be hard to pull off with a straight up repaint. However, it looks like the auction pictures do look exactly like the pictures on Flickr I found of the prototype Cortana, almost like the just used those same pictures from someone else.

So, do red prototype Cortanas exist, yes.
Does this guy actually have one? Don't know.

Should have a serial # stamped on it ending in SS (ex. 1234SS) It is a date code for when the product was produced. Made by Joyride Studios. If you are serious about the figure, contact the seller and ask about the serial #.

Oh heck no! I'm not forking out $900.00 for an action figure! :p

I was just curious if this was authentic or not.

The prototype collection on Sunnyshineup belongs to the seller of that figure, which just so happens to be me.

My JoyRide protos

My McFarlane protos

My Kotobukiya protos

And other things that I should not own.

Original Halo 2 Beta disc with documents. Game includes unreleased weapons, emblems, mongoose, and has a nonworking "Theater" option among many other things.

And my original Halo Graphic Novel sketches, which also include pages that were removed before production.

Unless of course you think I drew all of the sketches, painted all of those prototypes, and recoded Halo 2... :rolleyes

Also note the date on the McFarlane Arbiter prototype. It is holding a test shot Carbine, and the date it months before the Carbine was released.

You have no idea how much people on this site will kill for that disc.

Here is some info on it (pics and info are NOT mine):

This is what else is in the betas code:

gametypes:
warfare
capture_the_flag
assault
slayer
oddball
king_of_the_hill
race
juggernaut
headhunter
territories

Quote:
It is a little known fact that the Headhunter icon used to be the icon for a gametype called headhunter. Players were to collect token heads of the falen and deposit them in a large bin. After further evaluation, we eventually had to can the gametype in order to reach our November 9 deadline. Such is life in the gaming industry.

New weapons:

-Disintegrator
-Flamethrower

Clanmatches:

-Clan URL
-Clan colors
-Clan motto
-clan abbreviation

Possible dropped maps:

-"Cloud City" which seems to have been dropped before the beta..... This may be incorrect but it is mentioned as a level. (EDIT) the level is listed as "non-existent"

Profile:

-Weird voicemask
-Dropped backgrounds and Icons 4 colors allowed instead of 2
-Can put in flags, faces, check marks etc in profile name from stock menu
-Profile names can be very very lengthy

Vehicles:

-Shadow
-Mongoose!
-civilian vehicle (you can get in it and possibly drive it)
-Creep?? I have no idea what the hell that is....
-Covenant gun tower, it says: "Hold *blank* to man Covenant gun tower"
-falcon??? (no idea what that is either)
-gravity throne
-insertion pod, haha..... says "to get in insertion pod and sit there like a dummy Press *blank*"
-longsword fighter?? (wtf is that)
-phantom??
-shadow
-wraith (it has a gunner seat, assuming as a secondary gun. It does not specify)
-Pelican

Grenades:

-Flashbang (no joke its in the mainmenu)

Weird stuff:

-"team killer" (an option in the game variants) Chances a team killer has in 1 minute before being booted from the game
-You have to hold a button to diffuse the bomb....

Funny stuff I found:

BOOT PLAYER: Don't let the door hit ya' where the good lord split ya'

Actually a moderator here (Doom) has pictures of this actually working, and there is a topic here about it as well. It has pictures of the beloved falcon which you do not know about :). I cant find it at the moment but it shouldnt take that long to retrieve the URL.

Longsword fighter is what Master chief escaped from the first halo in. Cortana alerts him in the last level while stuff is exploding that there is a long sword fighter in the hanger.

Nice collection, Love the Kotobukiya stuff.

99% of the people that will get the beta won't have much use for it though, doubt you got anywhere with it ;p. Here's my thread about it

-Doom

I actually have a debug kit and the modified files, so...

I don't care enough to bother trying it, though. I messed with it one time, and that was about it. Same with my Halo 1 debug build. The only ones I'd actually be interested in messing with are the Halo 1 Alphas.

*EDIT*

Let me correct that. I had the modified files (still have the debug). I've been through several computers (and whiped the HD on the debug kit) since I played the H2 beta, so I have no idea what computer it would be on anymore.

Oh, well then!

Thank you for answering my question! And no, I don't doubt you for a second. I just held up some of my figures and noticed... "Hmm... they look exactly the same with a different paint scheme."

Yeah, they reused the same sculpts a TON. I have a few hundred prototypes, and maybe only five or six have different sculpts. Everything else are just test shots (molded in random colors and not painted) or unreleased variants.

Finding new sculpst is really hard, and more expensive than most people realize. That Red Cortana price is nothing compared to some other prototypes...

There is also a bit of an error in my listing. Apparently there were only three of them made. I know where the other two are, and there is no chance of getting them to sell. I offered one of them over $2,500 and 200 MOC Halo figures for 6 prototypes (most of which were not even rare as far as prototypes go), and they turned me down. And that didn't even include the Red Cortana either.

That's actually really cool, I tried hard to get ahold of a modified XBE for a few months, not much luck from the people who actually have it, and those that did, it was for connecting to partner net instead of LIVE(Need a debug though). I finally ended up working on one myself, that's what I've been up to lately.

I've also seen a Halo 1 Debug build floating around, and I have seen one or two alpha's, but if I recall, they went for over a grand each a few years back.

I'll have to see if I can catch you on AIM or MSN one of these day's, would like to have a chat about some of this stuff.

You actually get onto LIVE with it? I thought you needed partnernet. I had the same problem with the .xbe after I lost mine. No one would send me a new one, and the guy that originally gave it to me wasn't around.

Don't supose you know who owns those Alphas? I can go over a grand a piece; the problem is finding them.

Shoot me an email and I'll hook you up with the debug for free. I've been told it was missing one file, though.
