I know you can mix resin and filler together to make a "mud" but can you put polyester resin over dried body filler? Or will the two catalysts eat each other? Im working on a shotty and would like to do this for a final smooth layer and keep the filler from cracking? Am I in the wrong to suggest this?

Assuming you're using polyester resin and Bondo you should be fine, especially if the bondo is fully cured. Both substances are polyester resins, so the catalysts are both the same (organic peroxides, usually methyl-ethyl ketone peroxide.)

I do it all the time and it works great. It's excellent for smoothing out sanding lines, little dimples, ect. Good luck!
