Resin+weapons?

I'm done with 3 weapons so far (Rocket launcher, Carbine, and Assault Rifle) and i was wondering if I should resin them. The rocket launcher has some internal support thanks to some cardboard, but it might take a whole S*** load of resin to cover it.

I have asked around my school, and none of my friends know. Maybe someone here knows

if u want strength then yes resin if its strong enough after that use foam(great stuff)

If you do nothing else, resin the outside. It will help strengthen the prop.

Ahh ok, I was just concerned about major warping, and yes I do have pics. The rocket launcher unfortunatly is still in the major pieces.
I got fed up with it a long time ago

the only two real ways to make weapons are:
cardboard/wood from scratch
pep with res then foam.

Ok, so I should try to fill the big parts of the rocket launcher with expanding foam, then resin it twice? I just thought that expanding foam can seriously warp weapons.

I would resin the outside first then use the foam. Check BlacRoses' tutorial on expanding foam.

all right thanks for the info. I can't really resin thought, its too cold(I'm in that giant lake effect snow storm ) But once it warms up, ill post some pics on my gallery

lol i am in florida and it is getting to cold for me too resin. im by the water and it gets all frosty and freezing cold soo i took are old toaster oven set it to keep warm and put my stuff in their.

if you dont have an old one you can pick one up cheap.

Just remember folks, if you are applying resin inside, others can smell the fumes as well. You need some sort of exhaust (plus your safety gear). Good luck on this and post pics once you get more progress done.

Well, I do resin inside my garage, but my garage has 2 garage doors, and a back door that I leave open. Considering the fact that I haven't seen a unicorn telling me to jump off the roof yet, I think the fumes don't get to me. (+ i have a respirator so...)

I'd not use foam if I were you. If you use too much, you'll just ruin everything, even if you used resin.

Try getting cheap casting resin, and pour it inside.

I'll try all the ideas that everyone has given me and...

In order not to screw up my bigger weapons, I'm a gonna try out these ideas on either a small grenade, or the pistol.

After I find out which one works the best, I'll use it on the carbine, or the assault rifle and post it up. But until then I won't be posting for a while. (school, friends, working)

So not to necro-post i'll start a new topic.
